Season 1 synopsis:

Matt started off a normal enough guy. Perfect student, obedient son, and good older brother - meeting expectations wasn't good enough, Matt had to exceed them. Over his senior year summer, Matt found a perplexing self help site on the dark web called Aperosaxium: Towards a Quantum Hagiography of Qlippoth.  After spending a few nights trying to decipher the confusing site, it starts to make sense to Matt. He perhaps unknowingly, makes a pact with some strange force contained within the site. Suddenly, Matt is less tired and able to keep up with the rising demands from his family.

Things only escalated from there. This Aperosaxium wasn't just some website, it was some kind of entity without physical form, and every ounce of help it gave Matt it demanded back in tenfold. Coerced into stealing valuables from his neighbors, attacking a homeless man for his blood, and attempting to kill and immortal senior woman, it didn't take long for Matt to desperately seek a way out. He didn't know what he was signing up for, and it all got out of hand so quickly.

Eventually, Matt got what he wanted, Aperosaxium abandoned him in a bizarre version of Matt's own personal hell. Without the Aperosaxium to repress it, Matt’s powers begin to manifest in full and he transformed into some kind of multieyed manticore like beast.

Matt has varying degrees of control over himself when he transforms. In his mid-form he is usually coherent and can talk, but it is not a guarantee. In his full beast form Matt loses nearly all control. He will attack people around him, particularly those who he has strong or complicated feelings about. 

For as bad as completely losing control is for him, Matt likes a lot of parts of being able to turn into a monster. Things feel less complicated - he isn't held back by conditioned shame and guilt. But if he indulges too much he puts everyone around him in serious danger.

In a relationship with Dawn, a powerful witch.
