Adopted son of the Ishihara family, Masaru also gained spotlight upon the event of his maternal grandmother's murder. As the press around them died down, Masaru himself gained popularity; namely for his appearance on talk shows as an aspiring detective.

With a backstory of solving his grandmother's murder, Masaru became a rather popular freelance detective for the media to latch onto, with a rather marketable personality to boot. He gained many fans in this time - as well as defining his own genre of investigative work, namely in the technological investigative fields. It's public information that his detective work is unpaid, but he works as a cafe barista on the side.

Unfortunately, this fame also led to him being doxxed, at one point, necessitating his family to move location for safety reasons.

Relationships

• Aika Ishihara - His adoptive mother. He loathes to admit he sees her as one as easily as he does. She taught him how to fly, and stuck up for him when Kaori tried to talk them down from keeping him in their family. It's something etched into his mind, whether he wants it to be or not.
• Tadashi Ishihara - Though he doesn't live with his parents anymore, sometimes he still expects to see Tadashi cooking up some utter abomination in the kitchen. He's grateful, so he doesn't know why he feels disappointed, at times.
• Riko Hasegawa - His aunt, who looked down on him at first. They're distant, compared to her and Sakiko, but they aren't on terrible terms anymore, at least.
• Sakiko Ishihara - His sister, and the reason he stands by his belief of care being a weakness in the heart. She's dear to him, whether he cares to say it aloud or not. He would kill in a heartbeat for her, and woe be upon anyone who tries to test that theory.
• Lauren - The only person higher up on the chain than he is. Though he hates being under someone else, he respects her authority. She's a welcoming presence, in an uncanny way. He feels the need to preen with whatever praise he gets from her. And though he does everything for himself, he dedicates at least part of every success to her.
• Kohaku Mori - His coworker; the only other person at his level, though on the religious side of things. They butt heads because of this, the two of them equally power-hungry in their own right. However, he respects them for their control and ability, and so they keep to their own business. Likely for the best; if the two actually worked together, people would be utterly fucked.
• Imako Hirkawa - The consigliere of the mafia, and one of Masaru's closer friends. As far as Imako knows, Masaru is lower in the ranks than him. The two get along well, especially being the same age. They dated for a brief while, mostly to help Imako get over his feelings for Sora, which would never be reciprocated.
• Sora Okamoto - His friend at the very bottom of the ranks. He pities him. Sora doesn't know how high up Masaru is either, his ire focused on the name 'Kohaku' that gains far more reputation than his own. He uses a pseudonym for a reason, and this is exactly why.
• Haruka Nagamine - Taking her life was a blessing that's forever scarred raggedly into his memory.
• Tamika Terashiro - Kohaku's friend. He sees her from time to time. They don't talk, but he's aware of her presence. There's nothing to say here. Why are you still reading?
• Kaori Nonaka - He hated her. Not that he'd let anyone know, of course - and that's precisely why he's determined to find her killer. At least, that's what he likes to tell himself. He's not sure what he'll do when he finds them - bring them to justice, as his persona would claim, or thank them personally for beating him to the punch. He'll figure it out when he gets there.
• Aoi Miyasato - Irrelevant. Irrelevant. Irrelevant. Irrelevant. Irrelevant.
• Rudy Arlott - ...She's fine, he guesses. A friend of sorts, they have been for quite a while. It's hard to put up a front when your sister called you out immediately. That was a little annoying.
• Lukas Perone - Rudy's brother. If he has thoughts on him, maybe he'll consider sharing them some other time. As of this moment, though, he isn't particularly inclined.
