Aqualus

About

Aqualus is an adult dragon who was born without fully grown wings or horns and is not able to fly. They also do not possess magic or the typical shapeshifting abilities that dragons normally have. They have always longed to be in the sky with other dragons. And they like to jump from cliffs over the sea to try to feel like they are flying, but they always feel sad once they hit the water.

Personality

Aqualus is a rather sad but also reckless dragon. In their younger years they would love to be held by their mom as she helped them soar through the sky, but as they got older and too large for her to pick up anymore, they began to get sadder and sadder and missed that rush of wind. Many young dragons their age would try to play with them, but quickly realized that most of the games they played required wings, shapeshifting, or at least some form of magic, but Aqualus had none of these. Aqualus doesnt want them to feel bad for not being able to include them, but also doesnt want to put in the effort to try to come up with a new game that the others might not like. Aqualus often feels sorry for themselves rather than trying to fix anything. And nowadays they tend to avoid social gatherings or conversations with other dragons, they dont want to hear any of the pitying words given to them, or the continuous tries to give them hope that things will get better. And it's become tiring to hear the others try to come up with new solutions when nothing they say ever seems to work.

Instead, they often jump from cliffs over the sea, over and over again, just to feel the wind and the rush of air past their body before the water hits. It's always disappointing that it doesnt last longer, but it's still worth it to them when they're in the air.

Design notes

Aqualus was born without fully developed wings and didnt have any special characteristics form during the week after their birth, besides the bright sky-blue of their eyes, wings and ears, a trait which they developed from their awe while looking up at the sky.
