Koda (Yokai AU)

A rather messy looking guy. Barely wears any clothing other than grey bandages on his chest and arms. Lucky he is wearing pants or it would’ve been awkward. A couple of ropes hold up his pants. On the side of his pants, two scrolls dangling from his hips, for who knows what purpose. The man looks like he hasn’t showered for weeks. Even his from his hair you can tell what he has eaten this morning as it is probably stuck, intertwined with his long dark colored hair. Small ears hiding within the fluffy hairdo. Yellow eyes glow faintly underneath his bangs, looking as ever so lazy. A smug smile can easily be spotted, creating a face, you certainly want to punch.

Unable to walk in the light of day, he mostly spend his days in the night. Dwelling around human towns in order to get himself a snack or two from the leftovers of the villagers. Like a raccoon he sneaks around houses and trashcans, (If there are any) and even attempts to steal food from people their storage rooms.

Sneaky and unpredictable he is known for. The man barely knows himself what he is up to and reacts only to the things that are right in front of him. Lazy to even think about yesterday or tomorrow. As he lives from day to day, enjoying life at its fullest, at least from his viewpoint. He does not like to stress even through that seems to be a common assurance when you live off the streets like he does. Running into trouble like it is his fulltime job. Even through his troublemaker history, he is friendly and kind when approached. Trying to avoid conflict whenever he can. However if shoving off responsibilities to others is an option, he will definitely take it. Even if it causes his friends trouble. Will it hit back at one point? Without a doubt, but doesn’t mean he can’t try and run!

Rituals to summon great spirits, from good to evil. Mankind has been manipulating with the spirits for millennium. Even if it cost everything they have, enemies and even loved ones. At a peaceful evening a desperate young girl tried to communicate with the spirits. Creating a ritual from her essences. A painful progress but any sacrifice she is will accept in order to honor her family. However it was not in her favor. Thinking she would summon perhaps something vile and destructive, that would tear her apart by just being in it’s mer presences. She instead summoned.. him.

A mer minor spirit. In her eyes he looked certainly scary, as he towers over her small height. But not as intimidating as she thought the spirit she did summon would’ve been. Questioning the spirit, she soon found out it’s clearly not one that harms but instead is kind and friendly. He introduced himself as Koda and asked the girl what she wanted from him.

The girl replies with stating her name. “Lilly Susamaru.” She replied firmly on his question. “Revenge” She explained that just a few days back, her family was, in a horrifically way, assassinated by an unknown enemy. Ever so she wanted to take revenge but couldn’t do so by herself. She knows she is too young and fragile to be able to act on her own, as why she so badly sought for the help of spirits.

Koda knew he probably wouldn’t be able to help her much when it comes to killing people. There is no way he would be able to track down an assassin, let alone kill one. But that didn’t mean he would reject her request. He accepted it, however on a different condition. “I will make sure you will get your revenge on whoever caused you this grief. But only by your own two hands. I can teach you, but it will take time.” She accepted his offer.

For years Kida and Lilly lived together like sister and brother. Koda would provide anything for her, as long as he could sleep throughout the day in her house. At night he would train her and help her improve on her combat skills.

The older Lilly became the more she sought out for her revenge. She was out for blood and it was clear that Koda couldn’t provide that. Close after her 17th birthday, after 5 years of training, she left Koda in order to track down who hurt her all those years ago. For months Koda would try to track her and find her back, but was unable to. He quietly gave up the search but it never left his mind. In the hope she would return or that he would find her back. “Will she come back?”
