Ruvin is a mercenary making a livin' beating/murdering strangers for money. He wears full plate and fur-lined coats - a very strong build for a half-elf. No one alive really knows who his father was, so it's not clear what other than elf is in his veins. This is also why he is just Ruvin, no last name is ever stated. Roams around in the mountain regions and is very used to snow and ice. Ruvin doesn't talk about his mother at all. Almost always has an indifferent tired expression o his face.
Generally as socially skilled as a brick wall.... manners and general friendly behavior are not part of his character. If you annoy him he will make it painfully obvious, literally.
Unsurprisingly, he is very mentally guarded and prefers to deal with bad emotions via anger or isolation. He is not romantically inclined, but he is aware that he is definitely attracted to men. But because of his distant and aggressive nature, he always pushes away the thought of romance and convinces himself that he prefers loneliness instead. He convinces himself that looking for companionship in that way would only be a waste of his time and would only end up making him vulnerable. Inside Ruvin is a very frail man, that he so desperately tries to hide.
Dion is the only person keeping Ruvin grounded, and Ruvin views him as the brother he never had and protects him at all costs. It often ends up being Dion having to verbally defend Ruvin for his rash and brutal actions. Ruvin only shows respect towards Dion, and while his manners and choice of words are as rude as always, he will always do as Dion says. They often address each other as brothers.
Casper doesn't get along much with Ruvin. They are very much opposites in their approach to almost anything whether it be lighting a fire or just setting up tents. Ruvin somewhat envied the guy, He actually was Dion's brother, he was smarter and he could do magic. All the things Ruvin often had longed for. On the flip side, Ruvin also ponders if Casper ever felt like Dion favored him. As if Ruvin was some unruly younger brother grabbing all the attention away from the middle child. Ruvin never dared ask Casper about it, but Casper never seemed to have any ill will about the topic. He only bemoaned him for always causing mayhem in whichever tavern they went to.
Jax likes to poke his nose into Ruvins life, which makes Ruvins brain seethe. Yet, instead of beating the southern elf to a bloody pulp, he just kind of.... lets him? Sure Ruvin always throws insults and threatens him in response every time, but for some reason, he can't bring himself to actually physically hurt him. Dion knows that this is pretty unusual. Ruvin is hot-headed and wouldn't hesitate to physically assault anyone who got too curious. Dion thinks that Ruvin might have a soft spot for the blue-eyed newcomer, but as he struggles with emotions in general, he defaults to rejecting it. Ruvin thoroughly hates how vulnerable Jax makes him feel, how much fear and panic it evokes in his head. So much so that he sometimes has to leave camp for hours, refusing to speak to anyone, not even Dion. No one knows what he does or where he goes to in those times, and Dion only explained it by saying that going after him might be the last thing you do.
