Lahh’mbrrt “Lambert”, is a defective illithid who, upon ceremorphosis, retained too many human characteristics. This is reflected both in his physical form and his mental state. There’s a few leftovers from his human host in his body, but most notable are his hands and feet; sporting the same amount of fingers and toes as a human. Lambert has a much wider range of emotion than a typical illithid, and is unfortunately not quite as strong in the psionic and intelligence departments, even though he definitely still is rather heavy on the intellectual side of the scale.

Because of his lack of talent in psionics and rather frail body, he instead got a lot more interested in the arcane arts. He had seen these be used by slaves in his colony and naturally got more curious rather than repulsed by them. It led to him eventually finding a slave with magical powers that he took as his personal thrall. Through this slave, he learned the basics of magic. This was forbidden in his society, and thus, he was sent to be executed. As soon as others got wind of his practices with magic, he was chained and dragged on the ground through the colony. They were about to make an example out of him.

This prompted him to be teleported to Metrianda. Into the elseworld where everything that gets lost shows up. Being part of this giant multidimensional melting pot is difficult for pretty much everyone coming to Metrianda, but Lahh’mbrrt had the added detriment of having a need to feed on others. This made it quite difficult for him to live amongst others. Fortunately for him, he had been summoned as the Steel hero of the city known as The Knot. This put him immediately in a much higher position than the common folk, and more or less made others of his rank do their best do deal with him. For a very long time, Lahh’mbrrt would sneak away when needing to feed, using mind control to lure a lone person away, and then feed upon them and destroy their body. This was known by some, but they kept their mouths shut. If possible, he would also feed on enemies they had to fight during ‘hero missions’.

After about 10 years in hero service, he was noticed by the electrum dragon Justice, who was the highest power over his city, and many other electrum aligned cities. The dragon took a fondness to him, and the illithid did everything he could to suck up and maintain that favorable outlook. Soon, he moved to Spiritridge, and through some mind manipulation and pulling a few favors, he got in touch with the Mayor, Conan. The Mayor had people in very different fields, either they hated him or loved him. Quite charismatic, but also a big troublemaker.

Spiritridge is known for being the heart of the entertainment industry. Movies, music, theatrical setups etc. Most of them came from Spiritridge. People moved from the corners of this world, in hopes to make it big in Spiritridge. Mayor Conan, in all this, was quite a paparazzi star, and Lahh’mbrrt kept the man close, but also at a healthy distance.

Though there came a moment where the Mayor had overstepped his bounds, and Justice saw to his execution. Lahh’mbrrt was instead put in the new position, having already acquainted himself with how to govern the large city, as well as having the dragon's favor. At some point, Lahh’mbrrt came into contact with the dragon Yevie Tenebris. Like he had done with the dragon before Yevie, Lahh’mbrrt seeked to gain support from the much more powerful purple dragon. They exchanged small favors for a time, keeping their relationship under wraps. Though it came out at a point that Yevie wanted to get a hold of the goblins of the Nevergreen tribe. Lahh’mbrrt offered to help with the task, and immediately got to work.

Turned out there were two Nevergreens in the vicinity, Cerulian and Aqua. Aqua was the closest one, but he didn’t want to outright snatch her from the streets, or he might raise suspicion from the tribe. Instead, he had people playing small mind tricks and suggestive magic on her for a time, planting in her head that she wanted to become a famous singer. Eventually, after months, she took the bait and joined a talent show. It was rigged to let her win, and thus she became known as a rising star.

Lahh’mbrrt, as the Mayor of Spiritridge and the heart of entertainment, was of course going to become acquainted with this diamond in the rough. Thus it didn’t raise any suspicion among the masses. Though, as he took her in for personal consultation, he instead took the chance to break her and make her into his mind-thrall. On the surface, she was still Aqua and as cheerful and excitable as ever, but within, her mind was linked with his and she was forced into a Stockholm syndrome-like mindset.

Unfortunately, Aqua didn’t have the information they needed in order to get to the tribe. Instead, Lahh’mbrrt doubled the efforts to make her a star, hoping it would lure more Nevergreens out of hiding and into their clutches.

The illithid also had her be trained as a bodyguard in secret. Though, over time, as the two spent a lot of time together, he started to really bond with the little goblin. Whereas before, he hadn’t really cared for anyone but himself and his own survival, he now cared very deeply for Aqua and was genuinely happy and proud every time she accomplished something. It made him quite wary though, as now he was afraid of losing her to Yevie eventually. It didn’t help that the longer his partnership with Yevie went on, the more he started to doubt that the dragon would keep his end of the deals.

But he had come this far, and he’d feel a fool if he stopped now. He got this far for a reason! He needed Tenebris help in order to start a colony of his own. Only then can he feel like he truly belong somewhere…
