Story
Nyla was born and raised in a realm unlike our own. Where magic is commonplace but science is poorly understood.
From a young age Nyla was considered "magical" as she possessed the ability to shape shift into a feral version of herself. While considered promising for a child, having ONLY that ability into adulthood was considered "unimpressive", and she was often looked down upon by her peers with more impressive and numerous magical abilities. While she felt somewhat self-conscious due to the treatment from others, she was incredibly determined to study magic and her own abilities to hopefully unlock something new within herself.
After rigorous study, she unearthed a new ability within herself; the power to travel between realms. An incredibly powerful ability, so much so it was considered illegal. While completely innocent and only using her magic to gain knowledge, her people could no longer trust her intentions. Once Nyla was discovered to possess this power, the difficult decision was made to capture her in her home.
To escape imprisonment (or possibly death) from the people she once considered her own, she grabbed what she could and travelled to our realm through one of her "portals" with what little magic she had left within her. While safe, she had essentially marooned herself in a foreign realm with no way to restore her magic. Things looked bleak for Nyla, but one day while begging for food at a cafe she was found by Leora, the one person who would save her life and become her first ever true friend.
And with that, her new life began.
Design
Notes
- Small venom sacs on muzzle and knuckles.
- Two independently moving feathers attach to the base of her tail.
- Body is covered in a fine fluff, only parts with thick fur is her tail/chest/cheeks.
- Only piercings are on her ears. Optional.

Kind, intellegent, trusting, naive, studious, optimistic, curious, adventurous
Likes
Study and reading
Raised to be incredibly studious, study was something she could never quite shake off after arrviing to our realm. Especially after she discovered different types of knowledge, literature and stories to read up on.
Movies and music
Recreation was frowned upon with her people, so Nyla didn't have any exposure to film or music as a child. After experiencing it in our realm for the first time, safe to say she became hooked.

Dislikes
The dark
As her realm didn't have a day/night cycle, she never had to deal with "the dark" until arriving here. She feels the same way about the dark as a small child would. She hates that there could be danger hiding in the dark.
Horror movies
One night when Leora decided to watch a scary movie, Nyla thought she was brave enough to endure it as well (despite Leora's warning). Needless to say, she was not brave enough.

Trivia
- Magic manifests in her hands and her tail feathers.
- It is traditional amoungst her people to NOT cut their hair except for maintainence trims. It's one of the only traditions Nyla still continues.

Relationships
Leora
Leora was the person who ran into Nyla at the cafe on the day she was begging. After taking pity on her, she bought the starving girl a coffee and some food. When sitting with her a bit and chatting she discovered how poorly she really was at the time. Leora claims to be an amazing judge of character, and after sensing zero maliciousness from Nyla, she decided to offer her a place to stay. Leora was worried she may regret this decision, however in no time at all she realised how great of an idea this was. Not only did Nyla gain a friend, but Leora did too.
