1. Eligos

Eligos doesn't know why he exists. Born into a world he so desperately wanted to be accepted by, he soon realized there was a reason that would never happen: Eligos kills everyone around him. He doesn't mean to, nor is it something he can control: it's simply innate. If he spends too much time around another living being they will surely perish... wither away like they were never there at all.

This has made him a deeply unhappy and apathetic person. He's an isolationist who avoids others, and despite his cold exterior he secretly cares intensely about how he's perceived. However he smothers this caring side of himself, preferring to be someone who drives others away rather than hurting them... and he does legitimately have a sharp tongue, being snarky and rude even despite his young age.

Eligos is a Luck: a familiar-esque animal that's more or less analagous to pets in his world. Lux are common and much beloved creatures born of magic who give their owners boons. These boons can range from something small and niche like giving their owners a green thumb to something wild and highly desired like extending their lifespan. Regardless of individual powers, Lux are companions and friends first and foremost... and most everyone has one.

Eligos is a special kind of Luck, however... one that is very rarely even believed to actually exist. A Jinx: a cursed Luck who harms it's owner instead. And in his case to the most dreadful degree.

Shortly after he came into existence he was adopted by a kind old lady. He was close with her and loved her dearly, but slowly her health began to decline... and two months into owning him she perished, much to Eligos's horror. He was re-adopted soon after by a new family: this time a young couple with a three-year-old-daughter, but the same fate befell them. They got sick and then died: causing Eligos to realize that this was much more than mere coicidence

No. Quite the contrary: this was something he was doing.

He ran away... deciding to isolate himself. And ever since then he's been living deep in the woods avoiding human contact. That is at least until he met Aziza... a strange creature who claimed to be the same as him and offered to take him under it's wing.

...A strange creature who offered to teach him how to get by as a Jinx.

• Eligos has a very warm natural body temperature and hates baths.
• The name his original owner gave him was 'Champ.' He goes by Eligos now because he feels he doesn't deserve that name.
• He can use his horns to charge like a bull.

MENTOR

Aziza is many things, but a good mentor is none of them. Where Eligos is terrified of and distraught over his powers, Aziza has long since accepted it's. It tends not to have empathy for his distress and because of that Eligos is distant and cold with it. Their dynamic is that of a poor father and angered son, and the only reason Eligos stays around Aziza is out of sheer desperation.
