Hektor

Hektor Cohosh was born in the deep wood, in a house surrounded on all sides by deep water. They didn't see the sky much growing up, or the sea either- though it was close. You could smell the salt of it at night in the spring. At age 13, they were struck by lightning in a sudden monsoon that caught them adventuring in the forest. Villagers struck by lightning have a tendency to develop enhanced magical abilities, but Hektor was...a little less lucky. True, their magical potential was expanded far past that of a normal illager, but the lightning strike left them partially paralyzed for months and housebound for three years. 

Well.

Plenty of time to start figuring out magic, right? 

Though he's mostly recovered from the lightning strike, Hektor frequently uses a cane and relies heavily on his flying ring or tamed dragons to travel long distances. They also maintain a variety of other aids to bolster the damaged areas of their brain- most notably a comprehensive map to try to combat their admittedly fuzzy sense of direction. 

As of present day, Hektor is confident and outgoing, but prone to fits of temper. They have a tendency to be blunt. They're also a bit arrogant, and want very badly for people to believe that they're older than they are. Most people find their personality at least a little abrasive, and the handful of friends they do have are equally strange, and very patient. Hektor likes animals, particularly their dragons, and they like books. Not much of a reader for fiction, though- they prefer reading about magic, or zoology, or botany, or "true" accounts of distant places.

Hektor's particularly skilled in various forms of alchemy, as well as in dragon training (some rumors hold they can speak to dragons, though less favorable rumors suggest their dragon-headed cane has some kind of control mechanism in it.) A massive dragon roost housing most of their flock can be found not far from their home, as well as an immense forge powered by dragonfire.
