Byss (splatoon oc)

He is an inkling who currently resides in inkopolis. He lives inside the Grizzco Building (the salmon run building) and works in the company for his housing. Mostly seen driving the boat to the run, and at the bonus counter.

Byss originally lived in another city, with his parents and little sister. His original name was Abbyss, and his sister called him "Bissie" as if she got the name confused with both "big sis," and "sissy." He was originally designated female at birth, and was closeted for most of his time spent in the house. He had originally discovered his identity as transgender when he was old enough to keep his "kid" form, and started going through his teen years. He had originally thought he was a lesbian until then, but he had also kept that secret from his parents. Byss dated a girl at one point, and was forcefully outed when the girl attempted to sexually assault him. She claimed Byss "broke her heart," and told her own story about how Byss was the one who tried to rape HER, and her parents (that the girl was out of the closet to) threatened Byss' more conservative parents. The family was shaken up for days, and the parents grounded him and became violent towards him, as well as emotionally abusing him. His sister didn't understand the situation, but was convinced by the parents that Byss was at fault. One night, Byss snuck out of the house, backpack on his shoulder and his splattershot Jr. in hand. He made it to inkopolis, where he started a new life. His experience was rough at first, considering he had barely any money and used to live in an upper middle class neighborhood. He took up some odd jobs, and competed in his spare time. He had eventually saved enough to rent a place in Moray Towers, when he was mugged on his way to the complex to sign the contract. He broke down in the next alley over, when he was interrupted by someone plopping down next to him. Byss quickly feigned an aloof attitude to try to drive the other guy away, but the man next to him refused to leave. Byss was introduced to Spyke at that point, and was tipped off to a place he could stay, if he wanted to do so illegally. Tired of sleeping on the benches in the park Byss agreed to follow Spyke. The place in question was an abandoned building, practically next to inkopolis square.  He resided there for quite a while, trying to earn the money he lost. 

In splatoon 2, Byss is awoken by jingling keys. Somebody had bought the building, and planned to set up his business in there. Both parties were shocked by each other's presence, as they didn't expect anyone to come in here. The man who had bought the building tried to broom Byss out, but hesitated when he saw that the inkling was not even an adult. He paused, then said that he'll get Byss some food if he would help unload the truck. They did so together, and once the coffee maker and minifridge were plugged in, sat on some boxes and introduced each other. On that day, Byss met Mr. Grizz.

Currently Byss works for Grizzco in exchange for a place to sleep and food to eat. He works efficiently, but lacks strongly in customer service. He recently found someone in one of the salmon run outposts, and has taken her back with him.
