Anise:
Anise is a witch who runs a cafe/confectionery with her wife, Clove. She specializes in raising the pumpkins used in a lot of the pies/cakes/etc and casting luck or happiness charms on them. She also does food-based divination readings, but is super bad at it. Actually, she’s pretty bad at most magic, but it doesn’t stop her from trying. Chaotic gay.
Age: Late 20's
Family life: Comes from a large family dominated by very strong and strong-headed women. Magic hasn't cropped up in their family since their great grandparents so having a witch in the family again was a little challenging during Anise's kittenhood. She's still on good terms with them, but finds them smothering.
Appearance: Pudgy and shorter than Clove. Her abnormal calico-like coloring is a byproduct of her magical ability, which she can't fully control. Extra fluffy. Her whiskers and long fur curl in every direction. She dresses like she put her clothes on in the dark, but always wears a scarf of some kind during the fall/winter/spring. It's a comfort item to her and she hates hot weather. During summer she occasionally wears a chunky collar.
Clove:
Clove is quiet and non-magical, but is the creative genius of their cafe. She makes their ciders, pies, sweet breads, candies, coffees, etc. and loves coming up with new seasonally-themed treats to pull in customers. Others would be tempted to say she's serious, but she's very fond of silliness, but she feels like she has to be the responsible one and sometimes acts as Anise's external impulse control. She’s trans, likes reading, and keeps bees. Lawful gay.
Age: Mid 20's
Family life: Was raised by a single father and has a younger brother. They live in the next town over and she visits them every other weekend.
Appearance: Clove is tall and lithe, and has a longer face than Anise. Her canine teeth point out of the sides of her mouth (She's always a vampire for Halloween for this reason). She dresses smartly, favoring form-fitting sweaters or business-casual looks when not on the clock. She likes chokers, collars, and seasonally-themed earrings.
