Zoisite emerged on Earth, as she originally belonged to Pink Diamond. She emerged on time, but her gem was placed on the front of her neck - making it impossible to speak using her voice. The other zoisites had never seen this before so they were unsure what to do with her.
It was decided that two of them would take her to Pink Diamond’s palanquin to ask their diamond what they should do with this weakened Zoisite. Pink Diamond thought that Zoisite was perfect the way she was, and that getting rid of her was unnecessary.
Unfortunately, she had to help in some way since zoisites are inspectation leaders and she can’t give orders without the ability to easily communicate. So, she simply got Zoisite a pearl with a different gem placement, on her chest. The pearl needed to talk in order to translate for her, but it seemed impossible to create a pearl with a gem on her neck.
Zoistite had to leave with a brand new Pearl to help her do her job, with its gem on her chest. Zoisite did well at the time, and discovered many planets with her crew groups, including Earth. But when the rebellion got serious, her Pearl got shattered trying to save her owner.
Zoisite got away, heartbroken knowing that her pearl and many other gems had been shattered, and worst of all her diamond. After fleeing to Mars, she ran into
Hawk’s Eye Quartz, a friend from before the war.
They saw the diamonds end the rebellion. Zoisite stayed with Hawk’s eye for a while, and once they had the material, she helped Zoisite by building her a screen device. It made her able to communicate without using her voice, and since Zoisites are made for keeping notes and organizing with screens, she could easily use it well.
Zoisite got help from another ship to get to Homeworld, and became part of Yellow Diamond’s colony instead. She got disrespected by most other gems, except for Hawk’s eye and her friends, but she still did a decent job thanks to her new screen device.
She visited earth and Hawk’s eye from time to time.
