Despite himself, he's smarter than he lets on. Most of his dramatic personality is a façade that he wears to seem more confident than he really is in himself, but a little bit of that façade is true, like all lies. 

He is a heartless killer, turned into a blood-drinker by a vampiric disease. He has come to terms with what it makes him do, and in turn embraced that side of himself. 

He's developed a one-sided affection for Esme, though the other sees him as a friend, which is something Esme doesn't have, so it kind of works for both of them.

Not from Earth. He doesn't acknowledge his home planet, known as False Paradise, though he plans to return one day to raze the village he was born in.
