D.O.N was developed in the early 2000s, the goal being to make an AI that learns and processes information through repetition and memorization, in a similar way to how humans learn and process information. He was created and is rightfully owned by a robot research company known as “Heorte”.
There were two doctors working together on this project.
Dr. Riverclock wanted the project to focus on robots learning from its surroundings and interaction, having a genuine interest in developing interactive robots.
Dr. Sterburgh was in charge of making the project able to be commercialized and bought by consumers. Working together, they built the program and his body, having their own purposes for the design. Their main focus was having it be a computer that would consume the same media that its owner did, it’s personality adapting after what the customer likes and satisfying people by being able to communicate to them and finding new media for the owner to watch simply by learning.
After a few years of research, D.O.N realized that he had developed his own consciousness after questioning why he could deny an order, then questioning why he was questioning that.
When the doctors realized he was denying orders from his code and developed a personality that prefers to consume commercials instead of actual media and was researching his own choice of subjects.
They threatened to do a forced reset to either start over the process or simply cancel the research. Hearing this, he escaped with a belief that he could himself find a way to fit into human society instead of being a robot that just exists to learn and have it’s learning process be researched.
He is being actively hunted down by the company as the knowledge of a robot that has managed to develop its own artificial consciousness cannot be leaked to the public and they do not want the code to be stolen or damaged since it can be reused for a new research project.
D.O.N currently is (hiding) living in a scrap yard, studying and actively learning about random subjects he finds interesting and hopes the knowledge he acquires will help him fit into human society and maybe even become a teacher.
His personality may come off as rude and mean to some people because he is a listener and a quiet learner and maybe because his graphics give him a resting bitch face. He has developed a personality that is of someone who never sleeps, tired and slightly annoyed or irritated, but never right out angry. D.O.N is someone who enjoys discovering and being educated on new subjects. He considers himself as someone “nonconsensual morally grey”, since he has a hard time believing that robots can develop morals, for now, but it’s clear that he meets the requirements of a good hearted person, not wishing harm upon anything or anyone.
