Dante

A young mercenary spacefarer who considers himself a novice bounty hunter. Dante is a cross-bred dainty; a species of some infamy in the galaxy for their disturbing adaptability and irresistable charm. Unfortunately for him, this means he is a creature with very heavy social needs in an environment where he sometimes goes weeks without in-person contact.

Dante lives alone in a personal spacecraft traveling from port to port, although he has a few long-distance friends that he video chats with regularly. He's tried having crewmates in the past, but every one's been a dud, and worse several of them just wanted in his pants thanks to the whole dainty thing. He's gotten used to being lonely but he can't help shake the idea that he should have a partner, romantic or otherwise. He's a dainty, after all; but he's never found the idea interesting. The prospect seems alien. Maybe its his mystery pedigree - or maybe something's just wrong with him :(

He's a crossbreed, but doesn't know what of - and the only person who could is his mother who sucks and he has cut off contact with. Sometimes this causes him problems like suddenly discovering allergies or intolerance of foods or materials. As much as he's come to terms with hating his mother (and refuses to reopen that avenue for any reason) he resents his heritage and being kept in the dark about it. Why couldn't he just be normal?

He meets Malik after the little thief stows away on his ship in the middle of a time-sensitive hunt. As pissed as he is that he has an unplanned hitchhiker, Dante has no choice but to take Malik along (and eventually involve him) or risk losing his lead on a target that promises some hefty pay. Though its a rocky start, the two of them work together harmoniously and find themselves enjoying the other's company against their wills. Dante is almost getting his hopes up that this might be someone he can spend time with long-term when Malik lets it slip he's attracted to Dante - and the whole thing collapses. It was all fake. It had to be. He was just under the influence of Dante's charm.

Dante is practical first and foremost. He isnt one to misjudge his capabilities nor lack the confidence to try something. He can be daring despite this though and isn't unfamiliar with tight scrapes.
