Sun spots and Veiled Spots by E.L. Trouvelot (Public Domain)

Biggest encountered spanned ~3 meters. They behave akin to northern lights (dancing), but if threatened, they'll violently burst apart and spray radiation ranging from radio to gamma everywhere, which appear green/aurora-like.

Often responsible for interfering with Surveyor signals and destroying technology.

Sunspots are the dark parts of the sun, speculated these spots have a strong magnetic field.  They'll undergo a Coronal Mass Ejection, leaving the sun and sometimes hitting the earth. These CMEs are dangerous(radiation). What protects the earth from this is the atmosphere, gas molecules interact with this radiation and ...may create the auroras!
