Canes often comes off as handsome, cool, calm, and collected, when underneath the air, he's just a perpetually lost young man who's often clueless and oblivious to his surroundings and situations. The only reason he's still alive today is due to his extremely good luck.
He acts confident to hide the fact that he has no idea what is going on. So in a way, I guess you can say that he's misunderstood, but it works out in his favor. His motto is literally "Fake it til you Make it" because... well, that's his lifestyle. Canes wound up in these situations because he spaces out way too often and by the time he's back on earth, the conversation has already ended and the other person is often looking at him expectantly (what are they expecting of him you ask? Well, he doesn't know... so...). Somehow he always manages to scrap by and bullshit his way through life, though his New Year Resolution since he was 14 has been to break this habit... Basically he may seem cool on the outside, but he's actually screaming on the inside.
He was recently scouted along with his buddy Atlas and joined a boy band. He's not sure if he's really cut out for it, but so far it's working out well. Canes will just go with the flow for now.
