Byrne is the mysterious Emissary of the Beyond. Any information regarding her life prior has been divorced from her person, left behind like her first name. Byrne prefers the mystery that surrounds her. She's happy to be on her own. The few acquaintences she keeps are her last remaining ties to society and often burdens on her. Beneath the surface, Byrne hides a lot of hurt and trauma. To her, it's no one else's business what she's going through, she would much rather shoulder it on her own terms. She is indebted to a few people and it is for those debts she trawls a society that she no longer fits into. Still, she is human at heart. Byrne is self assured, independant and proud of it, but her feelings are raw. Byrne prefers to put distance between herself and others than talk about problems when they arise. Byrne has dark brown hair that is broken up with salt and pepper strands. It's very curly and often secured at the base of her head in a messy bun with a lacquered pin. Bryne's body is littered with scars, but many of them are neat and clinical except for the few on her face. She's become a part of the Edlritch Entity known as the Beyond as a byproduct of research that she did in her youth and the decades she's spent living inside it. As a result, she cannot die. Her body will stitch back together. She bleeds a black ichor that glows cyan and has the ability to shift through space as a fluid shape. Byrne no longer ages like normal humans do. - Likes

- Backstory
Byrne was once a scholar studying under Imogen, the first Biotheologist who dealt with the studying the Beyond when it first appeared. Her time in the research hall gave her a rival, Anise, the next in line for the throne. Together they fought for Imogen's attention on their research and put themselves in increasing danger to make breakthrough discoveries. Their time under her tutelage ended in bloodshed and changes to their physical person that could never be undone.
Byrne works tirelessly to protect the Beyond and all of it's creatures from the meddling of Farron Moebius and their Knights. Byrne and Farron share a secret that she would stop at nothing to protect.

- ● Byrne is based off Eileen the Crow.
- ● Her enjoying dark beer was a personality trait I imparted onto her when the meeting place for Nieve and Byrne ended up being outside a tavern in one chapter. Initially they were supposed to meet elsewhere but it just worked out that way and the idea struck me.
- ● Originally Byrne's height was just "shortest", but Farron ended up getting an official height, so Byrne ended up under 5'0"
- ● She used to be meaner, but in the current draft she ended up softening up. She's got every right to hold Nieve at arms length, though. I think she's probably the most "in the right" character the novel has to offer.
