After being turned into a vampire in 1978, Carmen became interested in the undead and decided to take up necromancy. By the mid-80s, they felt they had a good grip on the basics and decided to move to the monster city to pursue it as a career. Although a bit rocky at first, they were eventually hired at The Forever Young Night Club and are now rather successful. Carmen's work often includes bringing ghosts back into the corporeal world by giving them a physical form that can only be seen by other monsters. If done incorrectly, this may result in the zombification of the client, but they haven't made that mistake in a long time - since they first moved in and attempted to revive their old friend Joel. They're still friends, but it served as a serious wakeup call. Their proudest achievement is reviving Emilie, who had previously only been able to speak through a Oujia board. Whenever they need assistance or advice, they consult her and Claire due to the pair's history in speaking to and befriending ghosts.
They are a big fan of The Cure and have been since they were human.
They're dating Uma and frequently go to visit her at work at The Blood Bank even if they don't plan on buying anything. When they do, though, it's usually a black cherry or sometimes blue raspberry-flavored blood drink.
Phoebe & Dallas (& possibly another employee who specifically does this) keep watch on nearby hospital records to see if any supernatural events happen & they need to send Carmen in (& possibly the monster hospital staff, prob depends on the situation).
TRIVIA
- Normally, monsters can see full-bodied ghosts, but while wearing the eye patch, Carmen can also see smaller forms of ghosts, such as orbs and apparitions.

- Her hairstyle is based on Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy.
