About

Dimxe Eldrinn was born in to the third generation of Eldrinn carpenters. A close-knit family of wood craftsmen, they weren't exactly enthused about her seemingly innate ability to set things on fire. She's bounced around between tutors, schools, and temples, but no one has been successful in taming her magic yet — particularly not Dimxe herself. After she blew up the workshop for the THIRD time, Dimxe decided that she should travel to find a way to learn things her own way.

Appearance

She's short, plump, and roughly designed for maximum huggability. Her hair is short and constantly frizzy, like it's been blow dried way too hard. It's frequently braided thanks to the efforts of her cousin. She tends to smell strongly of smoke — oh, and she's got about eight thousand freckles. Her style is nice and simple; skirts, blouses, and a good pair of traveling boots! (With the toes and heels cut out, of course. One doesn't get away from being raised in a Halfling environment with a love for shoes.)

Backstory

Dimxe was born very literally on fire. The minute she was safely away, her skin was wreathed in illusory flame. This sort of... set the tone for the rest of her life. At the tender age of four, she threw a temper tantrum because, well... nobody actually remembers, because she blew a two-foot hole in the wall of the Eldrinn family's carpentry workshop. They found her a tutor shortly afterward — a local wizard, Stenin. She unfortunately left him with several singed robes, more than enough headaches for a lifetime, and a whole lot of burned books.

Next, they tried her at the Brieq Sho Academy for Magical Learning, a wizarding school. That... went about as well as expected. Dimxe couldn't learn spells from scrolls, books, teaching... they just seemed to spring to her mind fully-formed. After an attempt at a late-night study session ended with her as a sheep destroying the priceless herb garden, she was sent home with a note in her hands and tears in her eyes. Her family took her in with mild disappointment and signed her on at the nearest abbey to learn clericking, thinking she might perhaps follow in the footsteps of her grandfather. It wasn't long before the monks found, to their dismay, that Dimxe had no talent for meditation or calmness, and additionally, she had no real connection to the divine. She was sent home less than two months later. Unwisely, she told her family that she was merely on a scheduled break... which resulted in a breakdown. (She blew the roof off the workshop this time.)

After fixing the roof, Dimxe was sent off with her bags a third time. She was given directions to the city where her grandfather, Gilbert Eldrinn, made his home. Gilbert did his best to teach the child through experience, even roping in a family member who had yet to hear about her tendency for destruction: her second cousin, Berryn Eldrinn. Berryn was... a little standoffish at first, but Dimxe chipped away at her rocky exterior, and they are now best friends. (In Dimxe's opinion.) They worked together on a few adventuring jobs for some locals and found they made a great team! The trio grew close, but after a while, Dimxe asked if she could take some time to visit home. Gilbert and Berryn stayed in the city. She often wonders what would have happened if she'd stayed with them...

... because Gilbert died unexpectedly, not long after she arrived home. It took Berryn a while to complete the funerary rites, but she showed up at the door to the workshop, surprising Dimxe in the middle of the work day. She... did her best to be gentle with the news, but the simple fact of the matter was that Gilbert was gone, and she'd never had the chance to say goodbye. Dimxe didn't take it well. The resulting explosion shattered the center of the workshop, top to bottom, sending shrapnel flying in every direction and fire in all the rest. Berryn was able to pull Dimxe out, and they went back for the other workers; no one was seriously injured, but Dimxe couldn't bear the weight of what she'd done. They fled to the port that night and boarded the next ship to Landfall.

Berryn Eldrinn

Berryn is far and away Dimxe's favorite living family member. They've been fighting together for three years now, and Dimxe thinks the absolute world of her. She believes Berryn is honest, loyal, and (under that grumpy exterior) kind. She also secretly loves being called a goober, and openly loves having her hair randomly braided. They've had their squabbles, as all good family members do, but Dimxe trusts her with her life and everything else, no question. Their bond is unbreakable.

Abaddon Braken

Teacher, friend, and surrogate father number one. Abaddon was one of the first faces she fit to a name, aided primarily by his distinctive appearance. When they first met, his trial for the kidnapping of earth elemental children was fast approaching; in the month between that date and the date of the trial, they became fast friends. (Or, well, she did her best to wear down his grumpy shell while he did his best to refuse to refer to her as a friend.)

In the months after his... punishment, she visited him when she could and tried to keep his spirits up, and in her eyes, it seems to have worked. She trusts him with her life, both in and out of combat. He's rough-edged and obtuse, but they both know she'd give the world for their friendship. If he makes her Fireball him again without warning, though, she'll punch him again.

Garret Krueller

Garret is Dimxe's second father (by virtue of meeting her later, considering he does the heavy fatherly lifting.) She was enchanted by his horse, Cossack, because she just loves horses very much; then, as they kept bumping into each other at the community campfire, they grew closer. He was present for Abaddon's trial and her half-public panic attack, which he handled excellently. Now, she can regularly be found destroying training on his property or chatting with his wife, Bethany. She respects his knowledge and loves him like her own father, and if he doesn't stop coughing already, she's going to lose her mind with worry.

Rhuin Minyon

Rhuin didn't make the most incredible impression on Dimxe when he cartwheeled into her life, considering that he immediately developed a crush on her and frequently showed up to the campfire drunk out of his mind. Since then, he's done a complete 180, and she loves spending time with him and Milyar, his weirdly shiny former plague rat. He's one of the few people in her life who respects her as a peer and not a younger sibling/foster child, and she really, really appreciates that. He was also at her side after the god-mode-fever-dream, and he's a consistent source of hugs, which she loves.
