aurophaera, commonly referred to as stargazers, are delicate humanoid creatures that float peacefully in the upper layers of the atmosphere. they are born colorless, featherless and transparent, but vibrant colors quickly bloom across their skin and crests of feathers sprout from their jaws, necks and spine as they age. additionally, they grow wing-like limbs from their hips and legs that allow them to navigate their low gravity environment with ease. rarely, a stargazer will decide to leave their tranquil birthplace and descend to the earth. this usually ends in a horrifying death, either from initial impact or from exposure to the earth's weather. those that survive long enough to make contact with any earth dwellers are usually mistakenly regarded as fallen gods.

A harbringer of fall, a close eye is kept on this adolescent stargazer as his arrival marks the time of harvest.
Many villages, particularly the secluded woodlands tribes, pay homage to his arrival; offering food and burning incense in hopes of a good yield. Not surprisingly, the vibrant smoke and colorful harvest arrangements delights him; he can be spotted lingering above villages until festivities end.
