Braeburn was found orphaned as a child and raised by a goblin in the town of Dark Oaknest, one of the towns containing a piece of Halcyon. The man who raised him taught him to be a hard worker, and he was lucky enough to see Braeburn reach his post as town guard before he died. Braeburn had many different posts over the years, but the most important assignment he ever had was guarding the piece of Halcyon resting in the town, a gear that moved one of his jaws. On one fateful night, while he was guarding the relic, a mad wizard attacked the town, going after the gear. He was worn down and nearly beaten by the time he reached Braeburn, but he still had a decent amount of power left. Although Braeburn was able to defeat him, his victory came at a cost. The gear was damaged slightly, and Braeburn's arm was destroyed, essentially dead yet still attached to his body. He started wearing a reinforced glove both to protect his arm and hide it, until one day, centuries later, when a small creature appeared. Before he could do anything, it touched his dead arm, bringing it back to life and turning it into moss. He had never seen anything like this before, and decided, after hundreds of year of staying in Dark Oaknest, to go see the rest of the world and maybe find out more about what happened to him.
