Salem is about as elegant as they come, with long, agile limbs and a gait that almost makes him seem like he's gliding. He has very sharp features alongside a very long face and nose that sometimes make him look sorrowful. He has rather large and expressive eyes that still retain a large amount of emotion. There is a gentle tenderness about his gestures and a soft solemnitude that puts others at ease. Some would describe Salem's build as a "dancer's poise." However, due to his chronic illness, Salem is a little skinnier than average, although he does begin to put on more weight after Crysthart regains their sunlight.

Salem's late younger sister and who he spent most of his life with. Delilah helped Salem with everything he needed, and she became the only person he allowed to do so. She understood him completely and was the only person he really, truly trusted. After her death, Salem became a shell of his former self. Stuck in Buteodise away from home, he holed himself away and began to deteriorate. It wasn't until a certain prince took initiative that Salem found himself again.

The love of Salem's life and his closest companion. Daemon helped Salem see the good in the world again after Delilah's passing. Salem came to trust Daemon over the course of nearly a year. He helped him learn that it was okay to need help sometimes, and that it didn't make him weak or lesser than anyone else. Salem's love for Daemon is as deep and as endless as the universe, and as wide and vast as the arctic sea. Their complete and utter understanding of each other is something some folks can only wish to achieve, and Salem wouldn't trade that for the world.

Willow and Salem clicked almost immediately, sharing a love for all good things in the world and describing things in outlandish ways. The two of them will often have tea parties to discuss their week and share silly little stories or secrets. They have a lot of faith in each other and understand what it's like to be treated like they're weird or different.

Despite being pureblooded Frostfolk, Salem's body doesn't seem to be able to tolerate his own ice magic. This causes him to have a constant sniffle and to sneeze out clouds of snowflakes. This seems relatively harmless, but the illness can be exacerbated by stress or sadness. At its worst, it causes his skin to become frostbitten and for icy slush to build up in his lungs, which can be fatal. It nearly killed him as a child, and was the fate of both of his parents and sister.

Salem has a very unique brand of color synesthesia. Since he was not born blind, Salem can recall colors. He often uses them to describe his feelings or events that happen to him. It can be difficult for those who don't know him to understand. It is an integral part of how he speaks, and is almost like his own language.

He has an insatiable sweet tooth. Salem likes anything sugary or sweet, and can devour an entire table of desserts effortlessly. This makes him kind of a menace at parties, because he doesn't tend to leave dessert for anyone else. Whoops!
