A riftclaw born to the Red-Sands clan, who escaped an abusive family situation with his older brother when he was very young. He grew up in New Sydney alongside Ngai, but later moved to Germany to study and work, then moved back to be closer to his family after leaving his old job. He now works for the Rationale as a bodyguard and retrieval agent, a much less stressful occupation.

Personality

Vic is an intense and rather guarded person, although he'll often deflect with stories about other people or situations rather than clamming up. He can get snappy when pushed, but generally has a tight grip on his emotional responses. He's pretty open about when something irritates him, though, so it's generally not hard to tell where you stand with him. He might not want to talk about aspects of his past, but he doesn't like to play games either.

One thing that Vic is never shy about is how important family is to him; he's stayed in close contact with his brother for most of his life, he's a proud uncle to his brother's four children, and he's kept touch with a number of alternate selves who, like him, view each other as odd inter-dimensional brothers. It's not unusual for him to prioritise guarding them or helping them out.

Since leaving his old job, Vic has become a bit of a party animal, spending almost all of his free time either out clubbing or in public sims. He has a lot of relationships scattered around, as he's very open to casual encounters, but getting him to truly open up takes time and trust.

Vic was born 3 years after Ngaigara, and 2 after their half-sister. The three were cared for by their four parents until their camp was attacked by riftclaw hunters, and the entire group was forced to scatter to the winds; Vic and his brother Ngaigara were both grabbed by their birth father, Vermil, who carried them to a cave to hide. Unfortunately, there weren't many survivors in the attack, and Vermil had to take the brothers and seek refuge elsewhere.

Vermil really did not want to be a single parent. He was harsh with the children, and often left them to fend for themselves for long periods of time. One day, during one of Vermil's longer disappearances, 8-year-old Ngaigara bundled up their things, took 5-year-old Vic by the hand, and lead him off into the desert. They walked for weeks, stopping only briefly to find food, until the desert gave way to forested mountains, then plains, and eventually they found themselves on the ruined outskirts of the outdoor Old Sydney.

The brothers encountered a group of scavengers in the ruins, who took them down into the undergound city of New Sydney with them. They were quickly absorbed into the city's orphanage, and from then on lead fairly normal lives as residents of one of the great underground cities of the post-apocalypse. They stuck close as they grew, with Vic keeping up with Ngaigara in classes despite being 3 years younger, and when Ngai got his first job and apartment, Vic went with him.

Vic had been studying medicine, and after applying to various univeristies to continue this, received a sponsorship offer from a biotech company in Berlin. Jumping on the opportunity to study abroad, Vic jumped on a train and headed to Germany. He spent several years working on various projects with the company, and eventually took a job with the local Eclipse branch to study interdimensional toxicology.

And then he dropped off the radar for several years. Nobody seemed to know how to get in contact with him, and Eclipse was as always void of information.

Vic's reappearance was quite sudden; an application for a job with New Sydney's Rationale branch was lodged by some higher up, and he appeared on the train a short while later. He had a haunted kind of air to him, and massive thaumic burn scarring wrapped around his left arm from wrist to shoulder, but he still seemed to be in good spirits. He did not, however, move back in with Ngai or get an apartment in the city proper, instead opting to stay in the local Rationale barracks.

Current Day

Vic's current job is largely travelling with Rationale staff to other dimensions, protecting them from harm and guiding them back home. Since he's splitting duties with Ngai, the other resident riftclaw, he gets a decent chunk of time to himself, and tends to spend that partying. It seems to keep him happy.
