Emmeline Downs
Alright, I guess...
History
TW: suicide/self-harm mention, non-consensual activities, familial abuse.
Pokemon: One of Team Beast's "successful" experiments. After learning of the experiments she planned to run away, but found herself clutched tightly by both Beta and Gamma, who planned to inject her with some strange chemical they claimed would "calm her down." She somehow managed to escape, and found herself in the forests of the Unova region, where she met a fellow creation of Beta and Gamma's. Both nameless at the time, the two orphaned children chose to stay together and protect one another if their previous captors were to find them. With the help of their Pokemon friends, they made themselves a secret hideout as they called it, which became their home for several years. The two learned how to understand Pokemon and empathisze with the creatures much easier than the average human (most likely a result of Beta and Gamma's experiments), Emmeline taking a particular interest in Ghost types. However, one day a strange man approached the children, adopting the young boy as Emmeline hid away in fear (much later in life she reunites with this boy, who turns out to be N). The young girl was eventually taken in by an older gentleman working as a barista in Castelia City, who eagerly called her his daughter and gave her a name. Emmeline also became close friends with the local twin boys living on Route 4 (Ingo and Emmet), spending more time with them than anyone else. After taking Emmeline in, however, the man and his wife faced marital issues as she was not a fan of taking care of another child (the two already had a son named Oliver, who Emmeline doesn't have a very strong relationship with), especially such a strange one found in the middle of nowhere. This resulted in the man cheating due to neglect, his wife blaming Emmeline for their downfall. Emmeline was already forced to stay in an apartment above the coffee shop alone due to the man's wife not wanting her around, and after they seperated he moved in with her. Once growing into adulthood, she chose to spend her days working part-time at her adoptive father's cafe and working nights as a singer at the local bar. She has had her Drifblim (once a Drifloon) since her younger days living with Team Beast. Wants to travel the world and dreams of seeing Floaroma Town in Sinnoh one day as she loves flowers. Her adoptive father encourges her to branch out and explore other regions, hoping that one day she'll be able to find her one true happiness. Although Emmeline and her father don't have as close as a bond as they once had, as the man as used Emmeline for his own sexual desires one too many times throughout her life (started after he separated from his wife). In present scenarios, Emmeline's adoptive parents do get back together after he sold the cafe to his wife's aunt and made a hefty sum of money, never acknowledging the hell he put his poor daughter through (implied self-harm and suicide attempts). Emmeline's aunt is the only family member who cares for her and her wellbeing, practically giving her the cafe since she knows how much it means to her.
In an alternate timeline, she is sent to Hisui by Arceus after hearing her pleas to start anew, claiming she will find her true purpose/happiness in the ancient land. Confused and amnesiatic, she is taken in by the Medical Corps team in Jubilife Village after finding her extremely injured and passed out. After finally awaking, she explains to the various figureheads of the Galaxy Team that she remembers nothing of her past life, with her Unovan Lilligant and love for Ghost types serving as the only connection. Feeling sympathetic for the girl, Professor Laventon convinces Cyllene and Kamado to allow Emmeline to stay in an extra room located within the Galaxy Hall, going as far as to volunteer her to help the Survey Corps when needed. The two agree and not long after her injuries are fully healed does Emmeline find herself establishing a new life in the ancient land. The members and leaders of both clans that call Hisui their home consider her a gift from almighty Sinnoh due to her kind demeanor and willingness to help, earning her the nickname "Angel of the Rift". Those in Jubilife Village also find themselves agreeing with the clans, as Emmeline is always putting others before herself despite her unfortunate situation. Her nickname and newly developed positive reputation takes the interest of a certain curious merchant, who claims love at first sight after locking eyes with the woman. After spending countless days and nights with her, he fully believes she is a gift sent from Arceus in order to aid him in his journey in becoming a god, convincing Emmeline he and her are star-crossed lovers turned soul mates after centuries of trying to find one another via reincarnation/time travel. Volo tells her that her true purpose is to serve as his primary devotee and partner in achieving his goals. He goes as far as to call her the goddess heās been searching for all his life, and treats her as the queen she has always deserved to be. Fully trusting the man, Emmeline dedicates herself to Volo and stays glued to his side, doing anything he may ask of her and helping him however she sees fit. Volo also tends to be possessive towards Emmeline once making their relationship official, marrying her the minute he earns her trust and constantly keeping a close eye on everything she does. Yet a familiar face also lost and dazed in the land of Hisui may help to bring back some of the poor girlās memories, that is if Volo allows the two to reuniteā¦
Her team is kept in a combination of Luxury and Heal Balls, with Lilligant being the exception as she was a gift (kept in a Love Ball). Her "canon" good Pokemon love interest would definitely be Ingo, as the two have been super close since childhood. Her other two being Brassius (true neutral ending) and Volo (canon bad ending). Everyone else she is shipped with are considered general neutral endings.
Undertale: A human living amongst the monsters in the underground. Although she could have been the final soul needed for monster freedom, Asgore couldnāt bring himself to hurt her. The girl was already in a great amount of distress, and he could see that the humans have hurt her as much as they have hurt his people. So he informed his citizens that she would be allowed to stay unharmed, and anyone found harassing her would be punished. A majority of the monsters were fine with this, as Emmeline had already proved herself to be kind and caring. There were only a few monsters that gave her a hard time, but luckily she had a collection of people by her side that would put an end to the hate immediately. Not long after she settled into an apartment in the monster city, a certain glam rock, human loving robot took interest in her, and one night after hearing her sing at the MTT Resort he was instantly hooked. Cheesy flirting and several dates later the two found themselves becoming close, and Emmeline soon became known as Mettatonās co-star and occasional assistant. Best friends with Napstablook and Papyrus, and loves spending time with Toriel baking pies in the Ruins.
Deltarune: Lightner raised in the Dark world. Having never met her birth parents or even knowing how she ended up in the Dark World, the only family Emmeline came to know was an unloving flower-headed father, an Addison mother, and her step brother (who is the Pink Addison). She barely got to know her mother before she walked out on her father for infidelity, taking her brother with her. Emmeline was left alone with her abusive father, who mainly focused on teaching her what he does for the Darkners so one day she could successfully take over. Emmeline's relationship with her father was extremely rough due to the harsh way he treated her. Her lack of freedom and his constant abuse was what eventually drove her to accidently kill her father in an over-emotional rage. Lucky for Emmeline, however, this was also around the time King went on his reign of terror, taking blame for her father's death in exchange for her being held captive, doing whatever King may ask of her. Kris and co. happened upon her father in his dying state, and as he spoke his final words he practically demanded they get Emmeline back. Luckily, the trio showed up and took care of King before he could use her for anything, so she spent a majority of her time sitting in a cell while Rouxls Kaard obnoxiously flirted with her. Lucky for him she did find him somewhat charming, and this only inspired him to continue and try even harder. After the Dark Fountain was sealed, Ralsei offered her to live in Castle Town so she would be safe and out of harm's way. She agreed and took over her fatherās job of tending to the vast flora in the Dark World. Is a huge help to the trio in the Cyber World, but also somehow gets roped into Spamton's bullshit. After helping the salesman get back on his feet and actually make genuine sales, he becomes obsessed and will not leave her alone, often having gifts sent to her room in Ralsei's castle begging her to go on a date with him. The two have actually met before during his Big Shot days as Emmeline and her father often spent time in Queen's castle. The two grew close and it was pretty much love at first sight, until one day he stopped coming around due to losing success. When the two meet again in Cyber City, she barely recognizes him and he sadly doesn't remember who she is, but she chooses to help him in order to maybe rekindle the love that she once had, even if now he's much more persistent. The Queen adores her and treats her with the same respect she treated Noelle with, and encourages her to try to live the life her father denied her. Her Lightner weapon is a whip with a vine-like appearance, and she can also use flower related healing magic. Emmeline doesn't learn her true origin until Kris and co. convince her to explore the Light World for the first time one day, learning her birth parents were killed by the people she once called her family in order to use their human souls for evil. She and the Pink Addision are still extremely close, and still consider each other siblings despite everything. She'd often meet up with him in secret when her father was still alive just to keep the familial bond strong. He is not pleased with her romantic relationship with Spamton, often reminding him he'll kill him if he does anything to break his sister's heart.
Black Butler/Kuroshitsuji: Parents gave her away to a group of scientists as they specifically asked for intelligent and āgiftedā children, and they thought their daughterās above average IQ was going to be put to use for wonderful deeds. This, however, was not the case, and the girl spent pretty much her whole life being used as a test subject for unethical deeds. The Queen was informed of these underground experiments years later and sent Ciel to deal with it, but by the time he and Sebastian got there it was an empty facility full of decaying bodies and various bodily fluids. Thinking all donated people to be dead, the group moved on to a new location after essentially sucking their current test subjects dry, but little did they know one survivor remained. Emmeline was the only living soul in the building, and the perfect source to get all information potentially needed about the nefarious group (which is pretty much just a branch of the Aurora Society). Ciel took her in as a permanent guest in his mansion, allowing her to live there freely and stay safe from the cruel world. Often accompanies him and Sebastian when it comes to dealing with business for the Queen as she has proven herself to be quite useful to the both of them.
The Legend of Zelda: A woman believed to have been born from a plant, and gifted with the ability to heal and preserve life. She is considered the sole survivor of the mysterious race dubbed Vixens by the many citizens of Hyrule, along with the only known female throughout history to be a part of said race (similar to the Gerudo). Close allies of the Minish, Koroks, and Twili people, the Vixens were often feared by the Hylians due to their powerful healing magic and implied necromancy, with some Vixens even being strong enough to gift immortality and bring lost souls back to life using the power of the Secret Stone gifted to them by the ancient Zonai race. As a result, the Royal Family feared they would turn against them one day, thus ordering their army to wipe out every last member of the tribe. However, one soldier couldnāt bear to end the life of a young and scared Emmeline, taking her in and raising her alongside his daughter and son, Link. The Royal Family was displeased with this decision, but chose to keep Emmeline alive as they knew she could be useful to them in the future. In order to keep her true identity a secret from suspecting nobles, she was taught common Hylian customs and gifted Hylian clothing (having to cover her unpointed ears up with her hair as well), and was even allowed to attend the same lessons as Princess Zelda, thus developing a bond with the young princess. Not long after getting to know the people of Hyrule, she had a small romantic fling with the prince of the Zora, Sidon, but the two knew deep down that their relationship would never work for many reasons, and the prince broke things off, choosing to focus on finding a queen for once he officially takes over as king. A newly heartbroken Emmeline chose to focus on her magical studies, learning how to properly control her healing magic, and keep her true strength a secret. But the King of Hyrule abused Emmelineās power, especially after learning she was in possession of her raceās Secret Stone, working her nearly to death to keep soldiers alive, even going as far as to have her bring back fallen warriors from the dead. Her power was also not infinite, only allowing her a few souls to revive (only once), and some soldiers suffered from severe trauma after being brought back from the dead. The abuse, both physical and mental, caused Emmeline to grow disdainful towards all Hylians, with Zelda, Link, and her adoptive sister and father being the only few she bothered to spend time with. She saw how even if things seemed peaceful now, deep down many Hylians only cared for themselves and destroyed anything seen as a threat, resulting in her becoming emotional over the genocide of her race. However, as years went by, mentions of war between the several societies within Hyrule stirred up tension, and the king feared heād have to marry off his only daughter to the ruthless Gerudo King, Ganondorf Dragmire, to keep peace within the kingdom. After seeing Zeldaās despair at the thought, Emmeline volunteered in her place, seeing it as a way out of the mistreatment she had experienced her whole life due to the kingās actions, along with being able to properly move on from the heartbreak she experienced a few years prior. At first, he refused, knowing by doing so Emmelineās true identity would have to be revealed to all of Hyrule, and he feared what might happen as a result of Ganondorf having access to her powers versus him. But after countless arguments with Zelda and other nobles, he knew marrying Emmeline off to Ganondorf was the correct choice not only for his people, but for himself. He realized how dependent he had become on her godlike abilities, apologizing to the red-haired woman for his hubris and lack of empathy. Emmeline was cautious to take the kingās apology to heart, but chose to stay civil and keep her true feelings contained for the sake of her soon to be husband. Although the marriage was based on pure politics and convenience for the Royal Family, Ganondorf seemed much happier with his new choice of wife, having done his best to bond with the woman before their sacred day. Media outlets throughout the kingdom couldnāt get enough of the political marriage, especially after it was revealed to the people of Hyrule Emmeline was the last living Vixen. Titles such as āFirst and Only Female Vixen Marries Only Male Gerudoā circulated around the empire, which resulted in many rumors and theories about the couple to come about. It was also revealed to Emmeline she may be the reincarnation of an ancient woman dubbed the Goddess of Life by her followers (which were her people), who helped establish peace and create all natural life in Hyrule (flowers, trees, etc.). However, if she follows a path of evil her powers will have the opposite effect, allowing her to destroy any or all forms of life easily (which Ganondorf is like šš). Several people from all races ended up worshipping Emmeline as a Goddess after this, and she found it selfish the Hyrulean royals kept her true origin a secret simply out of fear. She doesn't need to seen as a godly power to be accepted, she simply desires respect and appreciation for who she truly is. With tensions still high and many people refusing to accept the marriage or who Emmeline truly was, the woman did her best to prove to all of Hyrule her new husband could be trusted and deserved to be respected, even with his violent tendencies and implied curse. She knew deep down the marriage was to simply keep peace among the many races living in Hyrule, and establish even more boring political ties, but deep down she couldnāt deny she was falling madly in love with the Demon King, and he seemed to be doing the same. She is implied to be the owner of the middle triangle of the Triforce often called the Triforce of Life or Beginnings, meaning she is a part of the reincarnation cycle, destined to always be Ganondorf's lover (timelines where Ganondorf takes over Hyrule include her turning against everyone and supporting her husband in his evil pursuits, causing her to become known as The Demon King's Betrothed or the Angel of Death).
Stardew Valley: After finally putting herself first for once, Emmeline ran away from an abusive household to start a new life in Pelican Town. Her parents have no idea where she is, as she chose to keep her brash decision a secret. She came to the valley with barely any belongings or money, but luckily she was allowed to live in the abandoned farmhouse right outside of town. She isnāt much of a farmer, however, but does grow flowers to sell to the various citizens of Pelican Town. Everyone grew to love her kind and gentle demeanor fairly quickly, immediately catching the eye of the beach-dwelling, lonely author-to-be. When she lived in the city, her dream was to become a professional singer, but after having to leave so suddenly she gave up on the ambition. However, after hearing her wonderful voice one day, Sam encourages the girl to perform at the saloon for everyone, even going as far as to offer to have his band provide music for her. She eventually builds up the courage to do so, and after seeing how well received she was by the Pelican Town citizens, her performances become a staple of Friday nights at the saloon. Said performances also make Elliott fall even more head-over-heels in love with the woman, using her as his main inspiration and muse for his soon-to-be novel, hoping to one day build the confidence to ask the lovely woman out (with a lil push from Leah and Willy he eventually does).
Personality
MBTI: INFJ-T
Tarot: The Lovers
Known for being extremely kind and caring, Emmeline tends to be loved by all who meet her. Although her lack of confidence makes her believe otherwise, many are charmed by her willingness to help others no matter who they are.
Can be described as incredibly shy and introverted, often only opening up to a few select people. She prefers to keep to herself and is often quiet, but if you are a close friend of hers she tends to be much chattier. Many also learn she is incredibly intelligent, occasionally showing off her fast math skills and love for science.
Despite being shy she isnāt afraid to be sassy if the time calls for it, standing up for herself and calling people out when they deserve it. She doesnāt want to be seen as a damsel in distress as she is perfectly capable of taking care of herself.
