Battista has a serious case of resting bitchface, which makes him look unapproachable, it also does not help, that he dislikes talking a lot. Most of the times he leaves talking to his customers. You could say that he is a good listener, keeping your secrets to himself and patiently letting you unload all your worries onto him, without giving unwanted opinions or judging.
He values his work above all else. For this reason, he is the most loyal messenger you will ever encounter. No matter your crime or sin, it is safe with Battista, though he might drop you as a customer if he heavily disagrees with your actions. He believes that it is your own responsibility to atone for your actions so even if you are no longer his customer, he will not tell.
On the rare occasions he does do the talking, he is very polite and will not talk ill of anyone. His demeanor also always remains calm. Almost nothing will unnerve him enough to actually show it, yet he does not take any bullshit either. He just wants to be left alone, do his job, and stay out of trouble. Though that appears to be harder for him than it should be. Often, he seems to attract all sorts of trouble.
Battista chose his occupation, because he is prone to become restless when confined in one place for too long. He likes to travel, meet many different people, and see their relationships grow or falter with time. He enjoys the stories he gets to witness through his work.

Battista was born into a small family near Namarast. His mother died very early on in his life, and he does not remember her at all. His Father was a Merchant and usually was on expeditions or ventures to gain wares and new customers. For a while Battista accompanied him on his travels, but it just wasn’t the right place for a young child. Instead, he was brought to his father’s brother, a lower ranking noble.
His time there was quite and uneventful. Usually, he was either bored or taught the ways of nobility. The only thing he really enjoyed was the poems and literature he got to read. He got to form a close bond with one of the Maids on the state. He still consideres her a mother figure. To keep an eye on him, his uncle more or less confined Battista to the estate, but that did not stop him from sneaking out frequently. Usually, he just wandered around aimlessly until his feet hurt and he had to turn back.
When he turned 18, his uncle gave him a letter. It was from his father. He learned that it was his last. He had died a year prior of old Age, but explicitly asked to not tell Battista until he was an adult, because he was supposed to inherit the old warehouse in Faline and a sizable sum of Money to continue in his fathers’ footsteps. At first, he refused to visit the Warehouse and traveled around for a while, trying to find his path in life.
Battista then ended up studying literature, but he lacked the talent and muse to be a writer himself. So he continued his travels where people would sometimes approach him with letters they wanted to send to loved ones. He usually took them since he had no destination in mind anyway. Four years had passed before he finally decided to visit small estate. It had been broken into and was in pretty bad shape overall.
He used a good part of his monetary inheritance to renovate the building and rework it into a postal office, since there seemed to be a lack of delivery services in the Area. He has worked as a postman since and build a sizable customer base that he frequents.

He befriended Mochrie during his time in college but they lost sight for a while after they graduated. Even though their realations ship has now shifted to a more professional level, he still considers him a friend.
