Byakko is an orphan who originated within the Azim Steppe, found by a pair of male Raen Au Ra on his lonesome among the vast fields, wandering aimlessly as he was left behind by his tribe. Byakko was found at just 9 years old, starving, thirsty, and his face caked in dirt. The Raen travelers decided to offer the awfully young Byakko hospitality, yet the quiet, nervous child was extremely hesitant.

It wasn't until the one of the Raen men offered him a dango snack, in which Byakko immediately perked up and gobbled it whole, immediately building trust with them. From then on, Byakko had been adopted by the Raen couple and lived with them for his entire childhood, and most of his adult life, too.

The town in which Byakko grew up was very close knit, careful, and wary of outsiders, which rubbed off on Byakko, causing him to become more of a silent and judgmental type. Despite his stand-offish nature, food often got him to open up, proving to be quite a glutton even throughout adulthood. 

His life for the most part was uneventful, and Byakko understandable got bored. Slowly getting more and more adventurous, Byakko would leave the air bubble surrounding his home to periodically explore more of what Othard had to offer. Due to being a shut-in, Byakko had gotten too excited with his escapades, often getting himself into trouble. He would get attacked by monsters often, in which his adoptive parents had to rescue him out of every single time.

Eventually Byakko would grow tired of constantly being defenseless, and would harbor a desire to be able to fight, which worried his Raen parents. Of course, with Byakko being a born Xaela, the innate nature to fight would be in his instinct, and his blood, which was something the Raen unfortunately could not raise out of him. Having expected this outcome sooner or later, Byakko's parents allowed him to travel to Kugane, together of course, to learn how to fight from the Kugane soldiers.

From his time spent there. Byakko learned how to use a katana, and while not well versed in the arts of the samurai, his knowledge would serve him well enough in his future outings for adventure. This event would eventually encourage him to leave the east outright, traveling to the western continent of Eorzea with his parents in tow to give them a new, freer, and more exciting life. It was in Eorzea that Byakko would improve his skills in battle, soon picking up a sword and shield to become a paladin, and a grimoire to learn the arts of the summoner as well.
