Georgette The Shrewd (Biography)

Lonestarcelt

Profile

Born one of a several dozen in the Goblin clan known as "The Jhet" and known only as Gor.  The life of this goblin was similar to the lives of many of her kin. Fighting, feeding, fleeing and whichever other talents kept them alive and their clan prosperous. Early on Gor learned that if she was going to survive she had to be smarter and willing to do anything she could in order to insure her survival. Soon enough as their power expanded they began to move out and raid more than just the local forests and caves, bringing themselves in conflict with both other goblin clans as well as the settlements of humans, elves, gnomes, and dwarfs. The latter of which proved to be a mistake.

Following the goblin clan's attack the city prefect sent out a call for someone to deal with them. A call that was quickly answered by a party of adventures who delved into the dark and within the span of two days all but wiped clan "Jhet" off the map. There were a few survivors among the goblins. Those who fled or those who helped they adventurers for gold and food. The latter of which included only one member of the clan, Gor, who after this betrayal would be labeled as the shrewd by the few members of her clan that stayed and fought before they were wiped off the map. A title she proudly wears to this day.

Gor traveled along with this band of adventurers for a good while. Eventually getting to know and learn from a Dwarf named Thornton Steel-hammer. The party became fairly well known throughout the land and with their fame came some renaming Gor after her fallen clan the Jhet. Gor Jhet. Soon enough either name had lost its meaning and instead she became simply known as the phonetic combination of that name. "Georgette". As the party learned to live with Georgette she seemed to tire or violence and strife and asked the members of that party for a loan. A loan that would allow her to set up a shop in the town of Fallow's End. A loan that was quickly given but never repaid as after the party left to undertake another mission they never returned. Some have suggested it was just bad luck on their part but some have spread rumors that Georgette sold them out to their enemies so that they would be killed and she didn't have to pay back the loan. A rumor that she has yet to dismiss seemingly keeping it around as a message to all who might trifle with her; Georgette the Shrewd would do whatever it takes to survive.

Despite a few initial complaints about having a goblin run a store in town the locals soon learned to not care. Most of the finding the competition brought on by her arrival to be good for the local economy as a whole and in fact with the rare exception of random visitors most didn't seem to care of even notice that Georgette was a goblin, at least until she met an elven mage's apprentice named Arwen. While their initial meetings weren't the greatest in the world, once it was clear that neither of them had any reason to hurt the other Georgette soon made this elf a deal. Arwen had a desire to read whatever books she could get her hands  on and Georgette needed a way to sell more goods to the local mage's hall. A deal that soon proved to be fruitful for them both and one that led their business relationship to turn into a more intimate one. Since that day Arwen and Georgette have been meeting in private not only for the sake of their relationship but as well as a plan for Georgette to foster contacts for when Arwen finally leaves her apprenticeship and takes the first steps into a wide world that this goblin knows extremely well.
