Wink of an Eye

Wink is a small tabaxi child with a sunny disposition and a surprising amount of skill and tricks up his overly-long sleeves.

Backstory:

Wink was born one warm summer day with only a right eye. His left eyelids are permanently shut into what his parents affectionately referred to as "just a wink of an eye" - which, of course, they quickly decided is the perfect name for the little cub.

Wink is the youngest and the runt of the whopping 12 children of his family. With so many mouths to feed and parents not quite able to make ends meet, every single one of their offspring is expected to help out with income from an early age however they can. Living on the streets of a largely human-dwelling city has forced them all to take up quite a variety of odd jobs, skills, and street-smarts, Wink being no exception.

While it's generally taken a lot of time and experience for most of his siblings to find each of their most successful means of making money - performance, manual labor, creating and selling works, whatever - it's taken the family barely any time to recognize what comes easiest to Wink: gaining sympathy. All it really takes for him to sucker some gold out of a passerby is a sweet and polite little greeting to catch their attention, some kind words, some mentioning of not having a home or food - interlaced with naïve optimism rather than whining or begging, - and bam, a few glittering pieces get tossed his way, or perhaps even some nice warm food for his empty little tummy.

...and in the few instances where people can't find within themselves the slightest bit of compassion for a poor sweet little homeless kitten, he still knows very well how work them into a situation where some of their finances and/or possessions wind up in his little paws, unbeknownst to them. ;)

Physical characteristics/appearance:

Unlike what is perhaps your standard tabaxi that looks like a bobcat or leopard or something, Wink looks a lot more like a housecat. He's missing a left eye, but his right eye is big and beautiful and shines with the optimism and determination of a young humanoid ready to take on a world much more massive than he even remotely realizes.

Personality traits:

Although Wink is quite clever for his age and a bit of a trickster, he's still a pretty sweet kid to those he finds trustworthy. He thinks of life as a lot simpler than it really is, which is definitely part of why he's so optimistic.

The frequency of his success with begging (and pickpocketing) others means he's quite used to getting what he wants and determined to find the means to do so if denied it. He'd never intentionally hurt or leave behind anyone he cares about, but if it's a stranger standing between himself and what he's got his eye on, he's not above lies, tricks, or flat-out stealing to get his paws on it, if it's significant enough. And if it becomes a life-threatening situation for himself or someone else innocent, he's not afraid to throw down, either!

Ideals:

- All for one and one for all! Everyone in a family/team/party has each other's back, even if they don't always get along. Never leave any of your own kind (family/friends/etc) behind.

- If you have extra food or money lying around, it deserves to go to someone who needs it. Whether you give it to them on your own or they take it themself, it's going where it belongs. No one deserves to starve.

Flaws:

He is a child, so he's lacking in experience and doesn't really know too much about the world beyond urban settings like where he's grown up. He also only has one eye, so he can't really see things on his left side so well.
