Personality

Ruby is known by every gem for their elegant behaviour. Every step they take and every move they make seems like pure elegance. Howeverm even thou they have a mature personality and very good body posture, they are in general very cold and distant. They rarely laugh about jokes, and rather study or train so they can defend themselves, since Moonpeople often focus on them thanks to Ruby having a high quality. And they hate it. So, they train a lot to fight daily. They don't wanna leave their friends, since Ruby knows that without them, the gems lose a good fighter.

Despite them being distant and cold in general, in fights, they get really aggressive and brutal. Especially when they fight alone. Rumour has it that, when nobody was with them, Ruby even literally slaughtered some of the moonpeople with pure hate. And so, many gems fear them. Except some like Heliotrope, who rather admire and support the cold red gem. Ruby isn't bothered by their reputation anyways, since they are more of a lone wolf.

Current Situation

As the fight between Moonpeople and Gems moves on, and some Gems even get on the side of the moonpeople, Ruby loses more and more trust in their people and friends. They start to fight more and more on their own, and their attacks and fights get more and more brutal. They noticed this themselves, calling themselves the "Red Beast". They even admit at this point, that they would fight any gem that has good relationships with Moonpeople. They just don't trust anyone anymore.

The only exception is Heliotrope, who got slightly shattered by the moonpeople and is very terrified of the whole situation. Ruby tries to comfort them and support them, and in return, Heliotrope tries to repair Ruby's wounds. Ruby is thankful that they have at least one friend left, but they still claim that they are afraid to hurt this one friend.

Creation

I was scrolling through YCH Commishies once again for new OCs, when I saw this incredible design by skrilloren. I fell in love with that design so quickly, that I bet on the design and luckily even got them! I am actually super happy til this very day, that I may call Ruby one of my OCs ;w;

Hardness 9,0

Thanks to their high hardness (Hardest is 10), they are difficult to break. That's why they often fight a lot of fights without break, without getting healed.

Old Knowledge

Loves to read old writings and books. Therefore, they know a lot about the history of the world and gems and nature.

Big sword "Obsidianblade"

Has a huge sword, with which she can fight fast and deal very heavy wounds. Despite looking huge, this sword is rather light.

Sunlover

Their attacks get stronger, when the sun is shining bright.

Eye-Clean

Thanks to their vivid red color and their high clarity grade, their attacks are very powerful and elegant, but they also often become a victim to moonpeople attacks. That's why they train a lot.

Lone Wolf

They learned over time to fight alone and therefore, they are known for being able to stop some armies of moonpeople all on their own.

Backstory

Ruby, when they were smaller and younger, was known for being kind and selfless. They always dreamed of becoming a fighter, fighting alongside other gems and helping them. Together with their best friend Crystal Opal, they trained often and both wished to become the best fighters among the gems.

When both Ruby and Crystal Opal became young adults, they were sent to their first patrol, together with stronger and older gems. The two best friends were super excited. Until they saw the large amount of moonpeople storming at them. It was a complete masacre. And the first to fall was Crystal Opal with their 5.5 Hardness, who shattered in front of Ruby's eyes. This image burned itself in Ruby's mind, while all other gems fought the moonpeople. At the end of the fight, which would go down in history as one of the most lethal fights, most gems were completely shattered, all others were injured. And Ruby? Ruby's arm broke, but luckily, Rutile could connect it to their body again.

It took Ruby a long time to get over the death of their best friend. The other gems noticed, how Ruby turned slowly from kind and selfless to disturbed and paranoid to cold and distant. When they came out of their room after this time of mourning, they were a completely different gem. They tried to avoid other gems, and swore to themselves to kill every single moonbeing. And they would fight more for their people, so nobody had to go through the same event Ruby has gone through.

Species Lore

The gemstones are a species from Houseki No Kuni. They are entirely made out of gemstone and therefore can break in fights. How easily they gonna break is determined by their hardness. 1 is very easily breakable, and 10 is the hardest gemstone. And thanks to their beauty, they often have to fight against the moonpeople, who want to break the gemstones and work with their materials.

Ruby is a gemstone made out of Ruby. They have a hardness of 9, which makes them very hard to break. But thanks to their high quality, they are a popular target for the moonpeople.
