traits: Shattered Glass Masquerade is one mixed up light. He honestly isn't all the bad, its just his true self never gets the chance to shine through. Shatter is plagued by voices inside of his head, mostly caused by his schizophrenia. Normal for him is having conversations with other equids that only he can see, normal is fighting against a figure that isn't visible by anyone else. When others try to tell him that he is crazy, that no one is there for him to fight or talk to, Shatter feels extremely hurt and lashes out with words, teeth, and hooves. You see, Shatter doesn't know that he is crazy. To him, everything is normal and he is the only sane one on earth, and everyone else is insane because they can not see what he can see, or hear what he hears. It is very difficult to scare him, and death threats mean next to nothing to him - after all, everybody's gotta die some time, right? In short, Shatter just isn't capable of thinking like a normal equine - partially because Dantalion, the "demon" (he believes he is a demon, really it is a part of his DID) that possesses him, controls his thoughts half the time and partially because of his schizophrenia. Shatter feels safest around water, and absolutely loves to swim and spend time on beaches, near rivers, lakes, streams, and every other source of water. He also loves the smell of honeysuckles.

Shatter is gifted in the art of war, and is a worthy opponent of anyone even with his short stature. However, he does not go out looking for a fight and is hesitant to throw the first kick. He does not fight to kill, but sometimes Dantalion has different ideas. Shatter is always in a constant battle with the demon, and every time he tries to fight against him, Dantalion always takes over Shatter's mind and makes him do things that he doesn't want to do. Shatter does not like the blood shed he is forced to take part in, but his unstable mind will not allow him to change it and Dantalion refuses to let the stag die. Dantalion is the only thing he absolutely hates, but the demon is also his best friend. He had mixed feelings about the demon, and doesn't know what to do about him nor does he have any way to get rid of him.

history: Shatter did not have a normal childhood, not even close. He was owned by humans, a little backyard pony. At first, he was fine, but soon things started to get a little strange. The humans started doing weird rituals, one of which involved branding him with the number six-hundred sixty-six, and the seal of Dantalion. Shatter never thought any of it, though, because he was never abused - at least, not in his eyes, but we all know that Shatter isn't exactly sane. By two years of age, he was hearing things. He would accidentally wake the humans up at night by calling out to nickers only he could hear, and eventually the neighbors filed complaints about him. Police came to the human's house, and threatened to take away the young stallion if they could not keep him under control at night. Shatter stood by the side of the younger human, a teenage girl, as the police officer told her family this and could feel the anger and sadness coming off of the female. Something inside of him stirred, a feeling of love toward the young human, and Shatter lost control and ended up attacking the officer. That was the first kill he ever made, and the last time he ever saw those humans. More people came, tranquilizing him and taking him away from the only home he had ever had.

He was taken away to auction, crammed into a corral with mares, stallions, and foals. Unable to cope with all the sudden activity, Shatter once more began to lose control. He kept hearing whispers inside of his head, but he couldn't figure out where it was all coming from. More humans came, trying to sedate him, but Shatter was too frightened to know what was going on. He ran himself ragged, and eventually fell to his knees, exhausted. The humans running the auction quickly emptied the corral of all other still-living equines, leaving only Shatter and the "demon" inside of him. The next day, they once more dragged him onto a horse trailer and took him now to a slaughter house; they figured it was better to have him dead, rather than alive. When they unloaded him, however, Shatter was as happy as could be and was prancing at the edge of his lead line, curious about this new place. However, Dantalion was not very happy about the fact that his new home was going to be destroyed just because he was too wild to control. As the humans lead the golden stud to the man with the money, he urged Shatter to attack and run away.

So he did.

Shatter never looked back as he ran, and somewhere along the way he managed to get his dirty rope halter off. He didn't know where he was, or where he was going, but he was now fully aware of the presence inside of him. Shatter begged the demon to leave, but there was no way the demonic presence was going to go away. He made Shatter run until they were far from the humans, only letting the pony stop when they had reached a wild untamed land. By now, Shatter was also seeing things that weren't there, and had just about forgotten what it was like to be partially sane. Besides, he had a new place to explore, a new way to live, and was thoroughly excited to arrive in Wild Equines.

During one of his wanderings of Femiet Beach, he met Antichrist (Vin). (Thread, WE2). He ended up living with him for a while, but after he died, Shatter moved on and continued looking for a home.
