Profile

Soru Omoide is Kori's brother. He owns the technology company Ares, and he is the mayor of Myrios. He's 28 years old (presumably 29 in later books). Overall cold and calculating, Soru's harsh demeanor comes from his ambitious nature, and his refusal to accept failure -- and responsibility. Therefore, when a toxin begins to spread in his city, he has to make sure that everyone knows that Phantom did it... whether Phantom actually did it or not.

Despite this, he tries to be a good older brother to Kori. He does this not, however, by making her feel welcomed, he does it by ignoring her or micromanaging her, and trying to make up for it on the back end by baking strawberry pastries for her. He does care, he just doesn't know exactly how to do that outwardly. He did save her life though, so that counts for something.

He distrusts Phecda Shioto, who may seem harmless, but has done things like breaking into a cafe to claim it as his own, poking around in Ares' business, and daring to suggest that Ares knows more about the toxin than Soru allows his company to share. He also distrusts Marun, who pulled a stupid stunt (pretending to be under a dead guy's spell) to distract Soru from Phantom's equally stupid stunt (pretending to be dead). He recognizes Marun's skillset for the company, but he deeply hates Marun himself for being inconvenient to him. He doesn't know that Marun is secretly his sister, and Marun doesn't intend to let him know right away, in case he has to pull an even stupider stunt in the future.

He works closely with Ares scientist Garu Orochi, who is essentially his unofficial second in command. Garu has a secret crush on Soru.

Extra:

-Soru collects glass figurines, and he is incredibly interested in Ancient Greece, to the point that he keeps his office stocked with textbooks on the subject which he reads for leisure.

-He knows how to knit. He hates acrylic yarn.

-He hates fluorescent lights. He has many lamps in his office.

-He refuses to drink coffee "for health reasons".

-He's a chronic overworker and is often found working late in the Ares Building.

-He has a fear of water since an incident in which he nearly drowned. It wasn't the drowning that gave him this fear -- there was an issue with the experimental procedure used to stabilize him, and it left him with the phobia.

-He orders pizza once a week, but not on weekends. This happens every week.
