Elsie

 Elise was created and raised in the lab. There she was experimented on as she was raised. The scienists there were probably going to give her to the royals after they performed all of their tests. Eventually the lab created a dragon experiment, that eventually went rouge and destroyed the lab, as well as attacking people. Elise survived, but became jumpy and scarred afterwards. At that point Elise was given to the royals and became the oldest child's twin. While her foster family accepted her the other nobles didn't. So it was probably a good thing she had hobbies of reading and writing to keep her occupied.
