Fenrir is one of the main antagonists of "Legacy of a Star" He's second in command of Corvus' crew and is known for relying mostly on wit rather than physical strength to defeat his enemies. He's a strategic genius and responsible for coming up with most of the crew's plans. His charm and charisma easily wins over the hearts of others. He's quite popular and trusted by his crew, though most don't realize that he only sees them as pawns for him to use. Despite his reluctance to get attached to others, he still has soft spots for his family as well as Juno and Rigel. He especially cares very much for his two younger siblings and would do anything to make sure they live safe and happy lives.

About

Fenrir is second in command of the Corvus crew. He's very intelligent and relies mostly on wit rather than physical strength to defeat his enemies. Charming and charismatic, he always seems to know the right things to do or say to get people to trust and follow him. Despite making friends easily, he tends to think of most people as nothing more than pawns for him to use. As a result, he tries not to get emotionally attached to anyone outside of family. He does occasionally break his own rule (such as with Juno and Rigel), but it's not very often.

He cares a lot about his family although most of them no longer speak to him anymore. Nevertheless, he still sends them a good chunk of the money he makes, knowing they need it.

He's still close with one of his younger siblings, Rhea, who is the only one that regularly keeps in contact with him. She can annoy him sometimes, but he will always appreciate the fact that she never abandoned him. In return, he never hesitates to help her out whenever she's in trouble, no matter how big or small her problem is. Though they rarely work together anymore, their teamwork skills are nearly flawless due to the amount of trust they have in one another.

Rhea

Rhea is Fenrir's younger sister. They were very close throughout their childhood and often worked together as a team when it came to surviving the harsh world of Acrux. Unlike him, Rhea is very strong, but not quite that smart. She is also more sincere and kind, making her unfit for the Corvus crew. However, she still sometimes stays on his ship when she's found herself in trouble. Fenrir loses his patience around Rhea, but he still cares a lot about her. He still finds himself relying on her even though he decided he was better off working on his own long ago.

Juno

Juno is a friend of Fenrir's and one of the few people he doesn't just pretend to like in order to win over their loyalty. They ended up bonding over their mutual dislike of Corvus, but he also finds her stories about her life and growing up as a soldier quite interesting. He thinks she's a sweet woman (much too sweet to be part of a merciless pirate crew) and enjoys one on one talks with her. He pretends to be her boyfriend so Corvus will stop hitting on her, but their relationship is 100% platonic.

Corvus

As captain of the crew, Corvus is Fenrir's boss. Corvus fully trusts Fenrir and believes without a doubt that they are best friends. He has no idea that Fenrir is just using him and will one day kill him off the moment his usefulness runs out. Though he acts friendly and supportive of him, Fenrir actually despises Corvus and finds him utterly insufferable. The one silver lining is that Corvus is pretty dense, meaning he's also easy to manipulate.

Mio

Mio is Corvus' girlfriend and a member of the crew. Fenrir doesn't see much value in her except for the fact that she's a good fighter when she wants to be. However, he views her as ultimately replaceable and wouldn't care if she ended up leaving or dying. She annoys him most of the time, especially when she gets into long-winded arguments with Corvus, but acts friendly with her when she talks to him. Occasionally, she'll flirt with him (usually to get revenge on Corvus) and he'll play along so long as Corvus isn't around.

Lycaon

Lycaon is a powerful wolf-like space creature. Imprisoned by Apollo and forced to protect one of his hidden treasures, Lycaon fought the Corvus crew and nearly destroyed them. He ultimately made a deal with Fenrir who offered him freedom in exchange for his loyalty. Having been in chains for 40 years, Lycaon accepted. Fenrir keeps his contract with Lycaon a secret from everyone except Rhea and only summons him for help when he badly needs it. It's unclear even to Rhea what Fenrir plans to use Lycaon for in the future.

Rigel

Rigel is the mechanic for the Aquila crew. Though he's considered an enemy of Corvus' crew, he has a complicated relationship with Fenrir. Rigel and Fenrir both ended up stuck on a desserted planet and had to work together to survive until the Aquila crew found and rescued them. During this time, Rigel not only saved Fenrir's life but ended up bonding with him over simular past experiences. Fenrir doesn't exactly like that he developed feelings for the enemy, but can't help but awknowledge he has a soft spot for Rigel now. Though he doesn't care what happens to anyone in the Aquila crew, Rigel is the only one he'd try to protect if Corvus captured him.

Altair

Altair is captain of the Aquila crew and probably the enemy Fenrir considers the most troublesome. Altair is both a trained fighter and naturally distrustful, making him difficult to trick or manipulate. Fenrir views him as a serious threat to himself and his plans and won't hesitate to kill him if they cross paths. He has been investigating Altair for soft spots, hoping to attack where he is weakest. He feels he might've discovered a fatal flaw in his defenses after seeing him risk his life to protect Gamma and Lyra.

Draco

Draco is a bounty hunter who specializes in hunting intergalactic criminals like space pirates. He has fought with the Corvus crew several times in the past but has failed to completely erradicate them. Fenrir's quick thinking is usually what has saved the Corvus crew each time, but recently, their escapes have been more difficult now that Draco uses Ladon for assistance. Part of the reason, Fenrir made a deal with Lycaon was to protect them from Ladon. However, despite being the same species, Lycaon is the younger and therefore less powerful one.

Spica

Spica was sold to Corvus and used as a bodyguard/protector of the crew for a time. Because of her enhanced strength, speed, and endurance, she was considered highly dangerous, so Corvus kept her locked up when not in use. When out of the cage she was forced to wear an anklet and collar that could either shock her or (if worse comes to worse) blow her up. Though most of the crew mistreated her, Fenrir was kind and would defend her. This wasn't so much out of the goodness of his heart as it was a tactic to gain her loyalty and trust. It seemed to have paid off because even though she is currently loyal to Altair, she hesitates when it comes to harming Fenrir. She may be Altair's bodyguard, but he doesn't see her as much of a threat to him.

Trivia

  • He's a very charismatic speaker and always seems to know the right thing to say to get people to believe or follow him.
  • He prefers to rely on his wit rather than fighting skills in order to get himself out of trouble. He's also very good at talking his way out of tough situations.
  • He's a pretty average/below average fighter and he'll almost always cheat to win fights.
  • He uses the alias "Izar Cepheus" on fake IDs and documents.
  • Although he sees Altair as a threat and strongly dislikes him, he also respects him as a fellow survivor of abuse. They also both know what it feels like to have the odds stacked against them from the beginning, but both managed to fight their way to the top.
  • Fenrir is generally friendly and agreeable to others in order to gain their trust. He only acts like his "real" self around people he's comfortable with (ex: Rhea, Rigel) or people he doesn't bother trying to fool anymore (ex: Altair).
  • His true self is more sarcastic, irritable, and doesn't try to hide how tired/exasperated he is.
  • Fenrir was born on Acrux, a tidally locked planet and lived on the small strip of land where the skies were always in twlight. Because of this, he's never really impressed by sunsets or sunrises in other planets, but finds nighttime and space travel very beautiful.
  • Fenrir almost always has his headphones with him (either on his ears or around the back of his neck). He uses it for listening to music in his free time and for communicating with his crew. He'll also use them to block out Corvus' voice when Corvus is going on a rant or loudly arguing with Mio. He enjoys a great variety of music genres, but prefers indie music the most.
  • Women tend to like him a lot and he's always had more female friends than male friends.
  • He's a very good judge of character and can quickly learn a lot about another person just from their mannerisms and way of speaking.
  • He's wanted for the murders of at least 20 people, 17 of which he killed in a fire.
  • He was once arrested for his crimes and sent to trial where he was then sentenced to death. However, before his execution, Rhea and Tara broke him out of prison.
  • He learns card tricks when he's bored.
  • Though he's generally calm and collected in most situations, he's a completely different person when it comes to ghosts. He absolutely hates horror movies/games and won't go near any place that looks like it might be haunted. He also wears a charm under his jacket that supposedly wards off dangerous spirits.
  • Though he doesn't seem like it on the surface, he's very protective of Rhea. If he finds out an ex-boyfriend cheated on her or hurt her, he'll hire a hitman to kill them.
  • He stays closeted about his sexual orientation and has only ever told Rhea and Rigel about it.
  • He doesn't date that often anymore, but has always been very affectionate and respectful towards romantic partners. He's only interested in long-term commitments when it comes to relationships.

Design Notes

  • His name comes from one of Saturn's moons, Fenrir. In norse mythology, Fenrir is a giant wolf who was bound in chains by Odin until he finally broke free during Ragnarok
  • He's armed with a gun and a plasma sword. Plasma swords are specially made for fighting creatures that are difficult to kill with normal blades or bullets. They're also ideal for fighting android/cyborg enemies.
  • His coat is fireproof and the material offers some protection from knives or blades.
  • The lights on his clothing are a popular fashion in the Polaris System. The lights can also be switched off.
  • His gloves are equipped with a small computer that allows him to project holographic screens by waving his hand. He can review statistics on the ship, supplies, and other information on them. Usually he prefers using his gloves over his tablet.
  • He wear a light-weight bulletproof vest under his jacket during raids and other dangerous missions.
  • He has scars on both palms of his hands. He hides them by wearing gloves all the time in order to avoid people asking questions about them.
  • He has senpaku eyes (which is when you can see the white of someone's eyes either above or below the iris).
