Profile

Captain was a sweet little mudkip with a timid nature that I got in my Ruby playthrough. He was the first pokemon I ever had and quickly became one of my favorites. He even became the first (and as of now, only) pokemon I ever leveled up to level 100. As I played the game, my pokemon started developing their own personalities and stories in my head.

Captain is rather young, as he was less than a month old by the time he met trainer Jade. He was originally suppose to given to a new trainer as an egg, but he hatched early. Because he was so young and small, the other pokemon at the lab teased him a lot, causing him to be very shy and cautious. But he's very loyal and, despite often being terrified, willing to stand up to others when they're threatening people he cares about. Other people might think he's weak for being so scared, but I think he's incredibly brave and very strong.

Captain loves sweet things and (as Trainer Jade's first pokemon) gets spoiled with all kinds of treats. He loves surfing and exploring the water around Hoenn with his trainer. As he is so young, he is rather small for his species. Even in his marshtomp and swampert evolution, he's always smaller than the typical pokemon. He does slowly grow over time though and by the time he reaches level 100 in story, he blossoms into a big, beautiful, and very strong swampert.

(Additional information: equipped with soft sand and has many contest ribbons)

Gijinka form info: Captain in gijinka (or human) form is also young, ranging from around 5 to 10 years old (usually depicted around 7) and is still rather small for his age. Similar personality as pokemon form. Please use the last image as a reference, the first gijinka image was his first draft and is outdated.

Additional Design Notes:

the bandana shown on some of the refs is not necessary for his design. It was a one off thing. You are welcome to draw him with it of course, but it is not required.

He has a bit of a gradient on his head fin and his legs

His tail is somewhat triangle shaped and kinda looks like a butterfly wing (I sometimes call him butterfly butt in my head-)
