i feel they'd have something to do with shooting stars and wishes - that of which has value to me too cos my husband makes wishes a lot
perhaps they fly in the night and their tail is the shooting star in the sky that others see when they make wishes (i really love that concept, gosh). i am unsure if the star itself on the tail can grant the wish but that seems interesting to consider. since they have flame tips on their ears, that goes pretty well with the shooting star idea because stars can be hot.
