she and her sisters were both variants and gained their powers in the same incident, a house fire. they were soon scooped up by the us government for the VENERATES team, a black-ops team of superpowered beings. being immediately inducted into such an environment has left it's scars, physically and mentally.

Devyn's sister Angel died on a mission, and in the span of a few years, the rest of the team died or vanished as well. Devyn then left the team, and went to college using the money she got the government to give her to keep quiet. and she has. for now.

she ended up creating the phoenix protcol, an organization designed to actually help newly empowered people learn to control their powers and provides people who have lost their homes due to their powers with a place to stay. she created a smaller branch known as the LIONHEART branch which consists of the superheroes, the people actively fighting villains with their powers, regardless if that villain is a shady corporate empire or a mislead empowered person.
