BACKSTORY
Zero was born into a middle-class family and, from a young age, showed inventiveness and curiosity. Instead of playing with peers, he spent a lot of time in his grandmother's alchemy shop. Through his efforts, he managed to enter a prestigious university to continue studying alchemy. A few years later, he suffered greatly from a wereraven attack, surviving but contracting lycanthropy. Unaware of his own curse until plagued by blood-soaked dreams, Zero severed ties with loved ones and relocated to the slums of the city to avoid harming them. For months, he was obsessed with tracking down the wereraven, hoping to kill it and rid himself of the curse. When Zero finally identified the culprit as his close and only friend, Eight, he was consumed by rage, unaware of the dark side of his companion. Zero devised a plan for vengeance, but killing Eight did not free him from the curse, leading to guilt and frequent hallucinations of his dead friend.

Following these events, Zero established his residence-laboratory in Eight's former alchemy shop in the slums and continued studying alchemy. He sustains himself by utilizing his alchemical knowledge for mostly unethical tasks and experiments, collaborating with anyone who isn't repelled by his essence. Simultaneously, he seeks a way to completely rid himself of the curse, though, despite injecting self-made concoctions to suppress transformations and animal instincts, he believes he can never return to his former life.
