there are many dangers that wander the land. large predators, natural hazards. disease or famine will kill just as easily as any carnivore. most notorious are the corrupt - certainly the most vicious, and the most hateful. they bear a vendetta for their civilized counterparts that the wilds simply cannot match. there are not many. they cannot breed. while terrible, some can even be reasoned with.

fungus, on the other hand, can spread corruption just as easily as anything else. its roots dig deep, deeper, consume you from the inside out until there's nothing left but mycelium. decay cannot be reasoned with. decay is eventual, insidious. it comes for everyone in the end.

charon was once... something. it knows not what. it wanders aimlessly, directionless and without concern, save for the hunger. its dark, liquid eyes hold nothing more than this.

it has to spread. it has to feed, to reproduce, bring more like itself into this beautiful world. the sun is warm and the undergrowth is damp. this is all it knows. and from a distance, at first glance, you may think it just strange deer.

always glance twice. you won't get a third chance to run.
