Profile

The terrible beast that owns the bustling marketplace in an unknown fantasy dimension. A dragon the length of a decent long train. You will find him resting atop the bridge overlooking the market center. Only his extraordinarily long tail swishes about on the outskirts of the area. One may speak to him if they have business with him, but generally he does not concern himself with the mundane parts of governing his little kingdom.

Magan starts his life human. A cornucopia of possibilities lay before him. His parents are patriots, and he follows their footsteps. He serves until the shrapnel in his knees screams out in protest, and then some. He is honorably discharged just after WWI. He is a hard, stoic man. He has done much in his country's name. But we do not speak of that anymore.
Three days into his retirement, these odd shapes start appearing on his property. Spherical mirrors beckoning him to some unknown future. He resists, but they persist; multiply… until the man has had enough, and he jumps.
The forces of the Nocturnal hit him like a tonne of bricks and he’s warped almost instantly. Only his training stays with him. He has his wits and his convictions, but not the memories. Survival of the fittest goes about as smoothly as one would expect, and Magan has grown to gargantuan size in mere years. And so the trashing colossus settles. Starts seeing value in leaving his prey alive. A gone-mad ritualist here and there, and  soon he’s got himself a squadron of semi-loyal servants keeping watch.
Now Magan has enough spare time to consider his own being. Now, he is greed incarnate. The pawns are just pawns, subhuman at best. But he has fed enough for a lifetime, and wishes once more for retirement. With some appropriately draconic interests here and there.

Waking years later, he finds the bridge he had taken enveloped in and bustling with relative life.
Various miscreations had taken refuge in his colossal shadow, knowing most to be too fearful to tread so close to the beast, even sleeping. He puts a little fear back into the eyes of the settlers, too. They soon start appeasing the dragon with the typical things one would think a dragon to like, Magan lets them, and so it becomes the law of the land. Starts regarding these pawns a little more warmly. Settles to keep them safe properly, thinks of them as his own.
Has not been seen moving from atop his perch for decades now, though occasionally he rears his head down and watches with lazy interest.
His long,centipede-resembling tail does move quite a bit though, constantly, as if with a mind of its own. Sometimes found wound about the market in labyrinthine pattern, so be sure not to trip over it! Some traders are also reminded of their tax deadlines with a close proximity of his tail, sometimes active enough to drive off business and make kind of a mess.
Rumored to have some sort of grudge against whatever rules over the topped train a little further along the tracks, which he had once thrown off so that he could assume his perch. So he sure loves hearing gossip about them doing badly. Otherwise, it is wise not to trouble him. He has little respect for anything physically smaller than him. So if he finds you small, but entertaining, he might just want to keep you forever.
