Sherrina Boettger

Sherrina is a soft-spoken, honorable albeit reserved girl. She’s also kind, intuitive, and maintains a level-headed and polite behavior, especially when dealing with troublemakers. While for the most part is demure and passive, Sherrina is by no means timid — willing to be firm and direct when absolutely necessary. Hilariously, she is also prone to sassy remarks, often expressing them with a kind, polite smile on her face. Additionally, Sherrina is very attentive to detail. She also has a wide intellect, being able to make observations and strategize plans. On the other hand, Sherrina is an individual who doesn’t get influenced by others opinions, preferring to stand by her own. She is not afraid to openly express her disagreement and opinion, and does so with utmost tact and respect, though Billy admits that she can come across as conceited, and sometimes even projecting her own beliefs onto others. In contrast to the other characters who hold idealistic beliefs regarding heroes, Sherrina has a rather pessimistic, realistic outlook on it. Due to the sheer amount of trauma she endured during the Zero Incident and her first-year, it has forever tainted her views on heroes as a whole. She also holds great contempt over heroic sacrifices, believing that one’s life is the most valuable. This cynical outlook has shown to put her at odds with the idealistic Akira, and even Ren, whom she viewed his desire for revenge as “suicidal.” Despite her beliefs, she still aims to be a Hero for her own purposes. Sherrina became a Hero as a means to cope with her friends’ death and to also let them “rest easy.” Although it’s been a year and she has been residing at her grandparents’ cafe for recovery, Sherrina has a lot of unresolved trauma that was eroded from the loss of her friend group. The effects of her guilt and loss has constantly made her obsessed with her past mistakes, to the point that she becomes overly fussy regarding her achievements and actions, believing that her incompetence would result in history repeating. Whenever she makes a mistake, she refuses to accept it, and constantly dotes on it. She even goes through ridiculous (though not to the point of immorality) strides just to prevent those mistakes from occurring again. Moreover, her obsession drives her to commit actions that are proven to have held back many of her peers. Examples of this include her prohibiting her squad from entering the place where her friend was killed, out of fear that the same thing would happen again, or even disobeying her superiors just to carefully plan out an outcome that would result in history repeating. Adding on to this, Sherrina tends to ruminate a lot during battle, hindering her to act accordingly. As she spends her time in HELIOS, Sherrina starts to reconsider the bulk of her behaviors and how destructive her guilt is to not just herself but also others. Eventually, Sherrina begins to gradually improve from her destructive habits, and develop a more healthy mindset while also considering therapy to mediate her guilt. Regardless of her flaws, Sherrina is a kind-hearted and brave young woman who strives to improve herself and live in honor of her friend group.
