ABOUT DURA
DURA is two things; an island, and a city. Starting out as a pet project, Kohane Sakurai-sama designed a floating city off the coast of southern Japan, one were people could live in peace, and were they could use their newly-found powers for the benifit of each other, using them for work or play. Sakurai-sama's work eventually became a reality, and the idea of DURA became fruition. Though, if Sakurai-sama was here today, he would be appalled by what the city has grown up to be.
The rat. The dirty buildings and disturbing streets seem full of filth. It feels overbearingly hostile- every glance your way feels as though nails were being scratched through your scalp. The streets twist into a maze of endless grime, stairs going up, stairs going down- where do they go? What horrors await the next turn?
Full of metalwork overhanging façades, pipes tunneling through cracked pavement, and concrete applied to walls and streets no matter were you turn. Buildings that overhang crowded pavements line each street, feeling more full then reality, their outlines block out the stars, pips filling in for the clouds, and wires illuminating the streets from above.
The first part of DURA to be made, and the slowest district to keep up with each era of new tech. Though to us living in the 21st century, it may feel like home, to the generations of 23XX, this district feels too old, as ifshunned by the others... akin to the ugly duckling. Maybe oneday it'll shed its feathers and become a spectical to the city...
The Rabbit eart its nickname after the reports showed the highest birthrate of any District. This could be due to the amount of housing within this district, with the highest residential percente out of all of them, or it could be something more sinsiter and vile... Though for its high population, the rabbit could be considered one of the nicest "inner city" areas to live, due to its high concentration of nature interwined in its tall, custered buildings.
Nicknamed the "Neon District", District 5 is home to the largest amount of commercialised building in all of DURA, boasting to be the "Entertainment District of the world", and that isnt an overstatement. It's streets are lit with blinding neon colours 24/7, the shops constantly rotating opening times to suit the needs of the residents.
If you're hoping to start a buisness, District 6 is the place to go. Known for its large empire of megacoperations, The Snake is full of bright in-your-face advertisement, vendors, markets and shady buisness operations. Don't be suprised if you hear a constant hum of police sirens, as there's always something going on behind the scenes.
The change between suburbs to city, has more lights with the lead up in height toward the city, though still has winding sideroads and less main roads, japanese style still, though shadowed by the city, as well as cables, powerlines and a small mix of nature.
