His personality is continuously growing, as he is still learning from the new environment. But he does find himself to be cautious and untrusting, not quick to judge a situation, and nervous around others. He does his best not to touch or get near other people, mainly because it could spell death for them. But he happens to be inquisitive, still not used to being in the open world, and enjoys running and being in open spaces. He also loves food, even if its bad, as long as it has a strong taste.

History

Tris was discovered as a hatchling on a farm, all of the occupants turned to stone and the rest of the town spreading rumors about the strange occurrence. A monster dealer caught wind of this and captured him when he was asleep. Later, he was sold to an assassin group and kept as a pet, trained to be used as an option for untraceable death. Obviously, if someone was turned to stone or melted with acid, it was much harder to pin the crime on assassins and start a manhunt.

What they didn’t realize when buying him was that he was incredibly smart and quick to learn. He learned their language and mimicked human appearance with a morphing ability. Luckily, he noticed early on that becoming too smart for them would be bad news. He may be more forcibly puppetted, used in larger, more ambitious schemes, or even killed, so he played ignorant and hid his progress. As time passed, his trust in them waned into distrust, and he wanted out. The moment he could pass as a human, he escaped his enclosure and started a rampage. And while the place was panicking from signs of destruction and a warning about a large bird monster getting loose, he snuck off in human form and escaped. Now he lives as a nomad, not aware of morality nor how to act in the outside world, but still trying not to kill in order to avoid recapture.

Though Tris can imitate human form as realistically as possible, it takes a large amount of concentration and work to keep up. In a relaxed state, his scales and light feathering are visible all over his body, though he keeps them as unnoticeable as possible on his hands and face, and he always makes sure to cover the rest of himself in clothing. His third eye is also visible, though he keeps himself blindfolded at all times to avoid issues with paralyzation and turning people to stone. Of course, he’s always had to be wary about his sight, and had to learn to “see” with his eyes closed as he was blindfolded by the assassins as well. He has also chosen to wear a scarf in order to cover his mouth, having both acidic breath and venomous saliva. Seriously, his kind were made for absolute death and destruction. A perfect assassination tool, though he believes that kind of prowess would only get him targeted by rivals or killed in preemptive defense. Since he could kill targets so easily, who is to say he wouldn’t unleash the same terror upon the assassins keeping him? Obviously, the only safe option was for the weapon to leave.

When it comes to his morphing ability, he can also reflect parts of his original form onto parts of his human form that may not correlate. That means he could make a foot his arm, or even make his head come out from his leg. Morphing is a weird ability, really. And when it comes to his original form growing, his human form doesn’t change at all, since it is a reflection of people he has seen and a cognitive choice of appearance, so only his cockatrice self would see any change from time.

Trivia

• Since he's been blindfolded his entire life, save for killing people with his eyes, that means the only faces he's ever seen are those of people right when they die oops
• Though he only had people he's killed and sneaky glimpses of people's backs as reference for his human form, he was good at remembering appearances and would be able to mimic anything he's seen only a few times- as long as he had the concentration and practice
