Laurel Maximum

Personality:

Laurel is a person of few words, if any -- selectively mute, they generally communicate through combination of their notebook and the occasional gesture. Despite this, it's clear that they care about the cafe a lot, as well as their members, and looks out for them in their own way. 

Background:

Laurel's memory prior to their hire at the cafe is....hazy, to say the least. Waking up one cold, December morning with only a notebook to their name, they wandered the southern US for quite some time, cataloging the wildlife there in hopes to understand where they were. As they communicated with some the locals, they grew to understand the general situation of the area -- but before questioning some of the mysteries further, a calling, perhaps, sets them back on the road, and Laurel begins travel elsewhere. 

As they travel, they make note of their journey, logging the places, creatures, and people they meet. But, through all the travels they've gone through, they still know little about themself. Who are they, really? Was Laurel their name, or simply the first word they cottoned onto liking? And that calling. Was it normal, for them to always be drawn to places where misfortune came to them? Was it their purpose to put a stop to that misfortune, before the worst came to pass? As they travelled from place to place, they soon became aware of these signs, how to spot them...

...and, with a little bit of luck, sometimes. They could even stop them from happening altogether. With that knowledge tucked in the back of their mind, Laurel continues to travel onward, letting that calling guide them.

They still don't understand what happened, on that cold December day. But, as their intuition brings them to a small cafe, looking for new hires...

Perhaps, that too, is a calling they'll learn about someday.

Other Info:

• Laurel has no idea why their form changes to a monster when they are guiding patrons back home, nor that they aren't human to begin with. Understandably, the first time they transform throws them off considerably.
• Laurel is a very good artist, and is capable of drawing various plant and animal-life in high detail. They also like to write various notes about their surroundings, especially nature and some of the oddities that come from it. 
• Their hat has a feather from a cardinal, a red bird they spotted when they woke up without their memories.
• They are more a tea person than a coffee person. 
• They also know basic cooking, and at the first to urge others to eat if they haven't had something for breakfast/didn't drink anything in a bit/etc.
• They probably use a lasso for their non-persona based combat because I think its neat
