Bristol (often referred to as Shanty) is an eccentric pirate 'captain' hailing from his namesake of Bristol, England. He likes to refer to himself as a captain despite not having a crew. Or a ship. Not anymore, at least.
Alongside his trusty iguana friend Angus, Shanty accompanies Rex, Charles and all manner of other displaced historical characters on their journey to the heart of the Schism.

Pre-Convergence
Before the Convergence Event, Bristol served on a ship by the name of The Dreadnought. He stood alongside his late partner Sebastian 'Bluejay' Calvary. Aboard the ship was the stowaway and highwayman Charles Palmer who, unebknownst to the crew, had summoned a rift demon aboard the ship to make an unknown deal.
Opening of the Schism
After Charles' deal with the mouth-eyed demon, the the crew of the Dreadnought was slaughtered and the ship brought to its knees. The two survived the attack in the cargo hold as the Dreadnought was torn apart and left to sink- the mysterious highwayman nowhere to be seen. While the two desperately tried to keep the ship afloat as a storm rolled in, a rift caused by the Schism opened shortly ahead of them in the fog and dragged them under. The Dreadnought hurtled out of the sky and crashed quite violently a ways out from Ground Zero, leaving the two stranded in the middle of the desert. Shanty regained consciousness before Bluejay, finding his partner slumped with his back against the wheel and large chunks of shrapnel embedded all over his body. After hastily tending to his wounds as best he could, Bristol was forced to venture out from the shelter of the crashed ship to find water and help. He left most of the supplies for Bluejay, taking just a few supplies and his companion Angus with him on the excursion.
Convergence
Shanty found a camp outpost a few days walk from the crash site, begging the inhabitants for help. Some offered him some basic supplies but nobody was willing to travel out that far into dangerous territory for a stranger. He was eventually approached by Rex and Charles, finding out that he had arrived a few weeks after Charles and the two had spotted the Dreadnought coming down. They seemed willing to help him out as the two of them were headed in that direction for their own reasons. Bluejay was long gone by the time they'd finally arrived- the remains of the Dreadnought decimated by some huge force. Bristol agreed to help Rex and Charles in their journey to the heart of the Schism to hopefully find a way to close it and return reality to normal.
Sebastian Calvary
[ Late Partner ] Originally serving on the Dreadnought together, Sebastian and Bristol cultivated an immensely close but unspoken relationship. Sebastian's death (or perhaps disappearance?) left Bristol in tatters, pushing him to aid William's rag-tag group of adventurers in their journey.
William Jameson
[ Friend ] Bristol finds Rex an amicable fellow- a bit on the soft side but agreeable.
Charled Palmer
[ Friend(?) ] Initially quite playful and teasing towards Charles, Bristol's attitude soon changed after finding out who was behind the demon deal that destroyed the Dreadnought. While the two would have probably made good friends in other circumstances, Bristol harbors no small amount of resentment toward him for the incident that eventually lead to Sebastian's death.
