- based loosely off of the Black Shuck
- an ancient eldritch creature that townsfolk refer to as The Other. they aren't inherently evil in nature, but they are ageless and filled with unspeakable power and sort of see humans as little ugly pets.
- he has no true form, but most commonly appears to people as a monstrous wolf or disfigured man-beast. they're detached from civilization, and despite knowing all kinds of deep eldritch horrors they know nothing that exists outside of the beyond.
- wolfe is a soul collector; crafting living things from the souls of the departed. really hard for the concept of "equivalent exchange", making him open to bargaining souls to people brave enough to enter his woods. has a very skewed sense of morals, but is surprisingly not amoral.
- uses the souls he collects to "feed" the woods. is partial to the souls of children because they're less likely to "taint the soil".
- the townspeople are terrified of him, but they probably shouldn't be because he is the least of their problems concerning what lives in the woods.
