orpheus 🌊

orpheus was born and raised in mondstadt, coming from an long line of prominent captains. the men and women of his family seldom spent time within the city walls, often preferring to feel the rush of adrenaline being aboard a ship sent through them. initially, orpheus was hesitant to set food aboard one of the massive ships. but, as time went on, his father instilled the importance of his position into his son and taught him the ins and outs of the role. once the time came, orpheus knew he would take the title with pride.

vision

his vision came while traversing through a dangerous storm while out on an expedition at sea. the weather left the ship in near-ruin and unable to continue forward. to quell his nerves as well as his peers, orpheus hummed an ancient sailor’s tune as they took to the lifeboats hanging from its sides. slowly the sea before them seemed to come to a standstill, the waves no longer lashing at the sides of their ship, until it was as if they were merely cradled by the water. in his praying palms, the hydro vision manifested, and he managed to get some of their men to safety with his newfound courage. this didn’t come without loss, however, of which greatly affected orpheus.

sea captain

back in mondstadt, although they had lost their beloved sea captain and a portion of their crew, the people made sure to express their gratitude for orpheus’s bravery. he doesn’t like taking credit for this, thinking it merely a stroke of luck, but he was more than ecstatic to take on the role of the new sea captain.
