personality

picky โ€ข secretive โ€ข cunning

although her family has since mostly disappeared, yae opted to take a humanoid form to better meld into teyvatโ€™s human society.

sheโ€™s curious of them, although is highly selective of who she chooses to interact with, and is more than willing to only approach to take what she needs. sheโ€™s cunning and secretive, often only revealing information if offered things sheโ€™s unable to turn down. it isnโ€™t uncommon for her to hire unknowing adventurers to collect items of interest, coupling this with cryptic hints, as if to make their tasks that much more difficult. thankfully, sheโ€™s always willing to pay a hefty price for what she wants. money isnโ€™t โ€“ and probably never will be โ€“ an issue for her.

story

yae comes from an ancient vishap bloodline. these vishaps, dragon-like creatures that lived deep within teyvat, used the element of pyro to command their territory. fearless and ferocious, they reigned for centuries and met their enemies eye to eye. although her family has since mostly disappeared, with most lost at the hands of the archons, yae opted to take a humanoid form to easily weave herself into human life.

nowadays, yae spends most of her time in a popular inazuman teahouse, and owns an expensive restaurant to fund her luxurious tastes.

vision

yaeโ€™s vision came at the cost of tragedy. centuries ago, while she was only a formidable pyro vishap, yae spilled blood willingly in the name of her clan and family. power and status was what she sought for those closest to her, and a comfortable and safe life for the rest. those that opposed them were not spared a merciful end.

this quest for power soon got to her head โ€“ as did it to most of her clan and their higher-ups โ€“ and while they were waging war against an enemy in exchange for their territory, yae seemed to have lost it all. her peers fell one by one and were ultimately unable to fight to victory. although she, too, came close to meeting her fate, the surge of elemental energy from within was what carried her to safety. she didnโ€™t escape unscathed, but was granted a humanoid form and a pyro vision to ensure her wellbeing as she wandered, lost, throughout inazuma.

relationships

hoshi [ friends? ]

"oh, hoshi! what a sour tongue he has... those cute little ears on his head will never go unnoticed. he tries to hide them with his hood, but my keen eyes will never unsee them! the yokai thinks he's slick, avoiding people like the plague, but i'd say he's quite fond of me, the teahouse, and my restaurant."

orpheus [ close friends ]

"captain orpheus is always welcome in my restaurant. for his age, i'd say he's wise beyond his years, and has a knack for efficiently fetching me my... oh-so-lovely trinkets. not to mention a great conversationalist! sipping tea and chatting is well worth the wait between his visits."

elune [ acquaintance ]

"would you believe me when i said that elune knows more than she lets on? the shock in her eyes when we ventured into enkanomiya, the way she spoke so eloquently about the nation of sinners... some might think she might be from khaenri'ah, no? perhaps fate is not kind, but i do think one day it will catch up to her, as will it with the other remaining few from that fallen nation."
