Character

Considering how terrible life on Alternia is for seemingly everybody else, Maelys figures she's gotten out like a bandit. Or she will, anyway, once her Ascension happens soon- it's gotta be any day now at this point... Despite there being ample opportunity at every moment for something to go catastrophically wrong, Maelys has managed to play her cards just right at every turn, and has been casually cruising through life for approximately the past nine sweeps. It's been a great deal; she's made lifelong friends, travelled the planet, and had experiences she couldn't even fathom existed in the universe.

Maelys figures that since she got such a good package deal out of her Alternian experience, she can spread the love and help out her friends wherever they need it. She accomplishes this by giving them 'small nudges', via blueblood mind control, towards paths or people they're far more likely to be happy or successful with. These people don't know what's good for them, but fear not, your fairy godtroll is here to save the day without you even knowing. All she's doing is making everyone involved happier, so where's the harm in what she's doing?

Abilities

EQ OVER 9000: Maelys is hardly stupid, and because of her above-average number of eyes, she's quite perceptive, too. Maelys can often see trainwreck breakups and messy friend interactions well in advance, but has learned that you need to be very careful with how you phrase your concerns, otherwise people will become very upset with you for no reason. Most of the time, she just says nothing, because she knows that even if they're on a path for disaster and the soltuion is simple, people are far more likely to ignore the issue and not implement it, as opposed to'saving' a situation that's already gone bad (like she knew it would).

WHISPERED SWEET NOTHINGS: Maelys' mind control is one of the best tools at her disposal. It's so subtle that half her friends don't even know she has it, and even less are aware of her constantly using it on them to slightly nudge them in whatever direction she wants them to think. Maelys has vowed only to use her powers to push people towards what she believes is a 'better' life, but she also knows if she came clean with any of doings, she'd immediately be ousted from her friend group for interfering with 'free will' and 'autonomy'. Maelys internally rolls her eyes; it'a Alternia, no one has those things anyways. Get over it.

Notes

• Maelys' right horn is growing out of where her right eye (eyes, maybe?) would normally be placed.
• The eye on Maelys' collarbone is NOT functional and is just a tattoo. Unlucky for her, Maelys only has three working eyes.
• Maelys is always cold and is constantly looking for extra clothes for warmth. When told she should layer better, Maelys looked as though she'd been shot.
• She's got a crazy strong sweet tooth, and can be bribed to do almost anything, given the right amount and type of candy.
• Maelys' most dominant eye is the one right under her eyebrow. The others are just kind of there to hang out.

Vaniya Dyesku [ Boardwalk Gal Pals ]

Vaniya and Maelys are notorious for wakling the boardwalk and heckling anyone they please, enjoying life at the 'expense' of other people. They're never actually causing any real harm, but some egos certainly may get bruised if you don't keep your guard up.

Rorial Luxore [ Blueberry Bestie ]

Maelys sees herself almost as Rorial's guardian or mentor- even though he doesn't really need it for the most part. The kid's certainly capable of surviving on his own, but he has no clue how to believe in himself or turn confidence around into success. She's not even sure he can right now. Give her time, and she'll turn him into one of her greatest success stories yet.
