Maria (plague doctor AU)

Maria is a high angel who was one of the first sent to help educate humans on medicine, disguising herself as a plague nurse to spread her message to whoever was willing to learn. She would eventually start teaching other angels how to heal as well, and that’s how she began mentoring Elizabeth in healing. She oversees the progress of her students when they come to visit once a month, learning what they’re doing to further the teachings. Despite her medical knowledge, she isn’t very aware of human nature and tradition, making her seem strange and naive to those around her. She is also never seen looking any different, due to this form being the one she chose to be more approachable, so no one really knows what she looks like outside of her current form.
